Highland is a clean, small town. We are at The Kirkwood, a family-owned restaurant, but also at our cottage which has a well-appointed kitchen, and we stopped at the Saturday market for coffee and conversation with Highland residents. The Highland Community College offers free access to their fitness facilities for seniors and charges a very small fee for others--that was a plus! Highland is just off the Pony Express Highway and it was fun to poke around other small towns like White Cloud with all its histsory from Lewis and Clark days.
