Irvington is alright, relaxed lower-income neighborhood but the people warm and friendly. You can tell it is a very old and historic area so it has a certain interesting charm to it. Plenty of cheap and interesting eateries and lots of shopping so you have everything you need there. I would definitely come back and stay there as an affordable alternative to NYC.

this was fairly convenient to where I was spending my time but not a great neighborhood and the rental was just awful. what I didn't mention in my original review was that I had to cashapp the host before I could check in. I understand that he wasn't on booking long enough for booking to collect the fees but what if I didn't have that much cash in my account to send him. I would have been out of a place to stay (maybe that would have been a good thing in retrospect) and not at all happy. I have a business and accept credit cards so just because booking couldn't accept for new hosts doesn't mean the host can't accept cc.

Our room 108 was leaking from the bathroom ceiling and from the light bulb in the area of the TV. Nothing was done. They said we had to wait until we leave. We could have really hurt our self in the bathroom floor. It was a inconvenience to us.

I have been traveling for years, and this house is the best in terms of cleanliness. I felt at home here; everything is as tidy as a hotel. My room is equipped with an Apple TV and a 52-inch television. It smells great everywhere, and the family is very welcoming. The bus stop is a 10-minute walk away, The bud number 170, which takes you to New York, a bit over 45 minutes away by bus.
