We love the area because we love to deep sea fish and the beaches are better than Galveston. Police presence keeps things nice for families. The were cleaner and more trash and restroom facilities. Disclaimer- I grew up here. Never viewed LJ as a vacation destination. The area has some excellent birding spots close by. Shout-out to Sea Center Texas! That is a Must See. Absolutely outstanding job by the staff and Volunteers. Many eateries, skip the chains store and hit Brew-n-Bake for coffee. Try El Toro, food is good, drinks are very good. Close to restaurants like Texas Road house and Red Lobster, Chinese, and burgers. Buccees was a short walk from Hotel. Swimming pool was better than the ocean-no mosquitos! Not much. The small pizza stain would have come out if they washed the towel that my son touched after eating pizza, it was a fast $40 for worker, I kind of think she stuck that in her pocket, when I wash clothes worse stains than that come out, and it was told to me that the $40 deposit was to insure nothing got broken or stolen, Not a little food stain.
