Licking is a nice little town. The people are friendly and helpful if you need anything. The city park is a nice place to spend some time. Friend Lumber Company has any hardware you might need. There is a good food store. The Mexican restaurant is surprisingly good. There is also a good Hamburger joint (Hoods). Licking is well located for people wanting to spend time on Piney River or Current River/Montauk state Park. I did see a lot of speeding tickets being written - so slow down when you enter the city limits.

first the bad, checked in to the room, dead cockroaches and spiders on the floor, one was alive on the counter, next morning asked the desk person to please have the room cleaned, it was never done, if i had not prepayed i would have left. the whole stay-5days they never cleaned the room or changed the sheets we had to take the towels up to the office to get new ones, the rooms in the back were outdated and in poor repair, the tv had only a few channels, the ac stayed on the whole night and barley kept the room cool. the good; the price was fair. licking is a small country town, people are good, this hotel gives the town a bad name.

Licking is a nice little town with good access to both Piney River and Montauk State park. there is a good assortment of restaurants. The Mexican Restaurant is quiet good. Friend Hardware store has a good selection of products. The Rock House is a good place for crafts.

Licking is a nice little Ozark town.
Licking is a nice little Ozark town. There are enough restaurants to give you a choice of food. El Carnaval Mexican restaurant and Hood's (Burgers) are 2 of my favorites.
The town is close to Montauk State Park and Boiling Springs on Piney river.
The city park is very nice - doubly so for a town of this size.
If you there on the 4th of July they put on a pretty good show.
There is also a rodeo. Usually in June.
If you are interested in art, Crafts and antiques The Rock House is very good. Check it out.

Small town that's still operating.
Small town that's still operating. A nice place to stay if you can't get into Montauk Cabins or if you need to travel a bit further but want to split your trip in half. Not sure how I feel about the people in the town. Had somewhat of a neutral vibe in the town. There is very little here, but you can find gas, a bank, ice cream, some food. Police patrol the city heavily which was good.

I am a native of Licking Mo but moved away when I was young (am now in my mid 60s). I come back regularly for family events. This hotel (building) was present in my earliest memories - so it is an older construction. You can tell the facilities and decor are dated but this is easily offset by the low price. The room was clean comfortable and quiet. So while not fancy, all the basics are met with a very reasonable price.
