Walking the headlands, broiling waters, waves, spouts, awesome nature. Walked perimeter of town about five miles along the bluffs to highway and back. Town has charming shops, museums, well restored19th century architecture, very good restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlors. Mendocino Hotel bar and restaurant closed for renovations. Mendocino Cafe is excellent! Highway 1 has breath-taking world class views; arriving at charming Mendocino is no disappointment. Loved this little piece of Heaven tucked into the gorgeous California coast. Small town ...but it has heart. lots of old character homes and heritage buildings. Don't forget to check out the pubs ..super friendly staff and yummy foods and local beers. The bakery is a must if you're looking to expand your waist line. Check in was easy and staff are there during the day to assist. There is a room to get water, tea, ice and cookies etc which is open 24 hours.
