The area around Olean is quite beautiful!
The area around Olean is quite beautiful! The city has done a lot to beautify the historic downtown area with traffic circles and plentiful, lovely flower displays as well as decorated squirrel statues. The Beef and Barrel restaurant - just steps from the Old Library Inn - served excellent food at family-friendly prices. Nearby colleges are St. Bonaventure and Jamestown Community College.

I'm a local, I only live 3 minutes from this hotel.
I'm a local, I only live 3 minutes from this hotel. I needed a place for my family and I to stay for the night as we had electrical work being done on our home. Our area of Allegany/Olean you get a taste of country and city livin'. Where this hotel is located you get the quiet part of the city besides during "rush hour". Convenience of many restaurants, gas stations, shopping ect. If you're looking to take a nice walk or bike ride highly reccomend you check out our gem of a trail (Bonnas trail) that leads from Allegany right into Olean and circles back. Summer months are the best to visit, many events that are held - visit Olean Chamber of Commerce for info. Like any city we have our pros and cons. Also, if you eat at Applebees next door let them know you're staying at Best Western; you'll get a discount on your bill. But if you want fantasic, good eating, visit Beef & Barrel.

Olean has some great pubs and restaurants.
Olean has some great pubs and restaurants. It is a very safe and friendly town. Check out Randy’s up the river, or Randy’s fireside. Also the library restaurant and inn. There is also a very nice looking steak house on the Main Street.

The room I reserved was not what was provided.
The room I reserved was not what was provided. I was not traveling as a couple, but with a colleague. I reserved a room with 2 beds. Because of their issues - admitted “maintenance” and “overbooking” - we were given a room with one bed. Their solution was a cot that was uncomfortable and extra bottles of water. We had to request blankets for it. I was given no notice of the change in room prior to arrival. If I had, I would have cancelled and booked another hotel. It was an uncomfortable night for the price that I paid.

The breakfast was very good. Also, everything was very clean and new. I would recommend this hotel to anyone doing a major road trip- It was very central to the highway.
