We had a great time in Red Wing! We explored the downtown. Highlights include the St James Hotel where we stayed, the bookstore, game shop. Red Wing Shoe museum, the War museum, the Pottery Place museum, and the Uff Da Shop.

Lovely town on the Mississippi River, great local restaurants and shops. Very nice restored hotel and theater and art throughout the town. There are several beautiful parks on the river and one on top of a bluff overlooking the town and the river valley. There is a nice bike trail, a river walk, and many hiking trails. It is also close to Welch Village for downhill skiing.

Beautiful city! The lake was gorgeous!

Beautiful city! The lake was gorgeous! We were there during a big snowfall which left the city white and very pretty. The city did a good job of clearing roads so travel in and out was manageable. We loved our stay!!

Red Wing is a beautiful place to visit!

Red Wing is a beautiful place to visit! We were there for a wedding at the St.James Hotel. Unfortunately it was colder than normal, snowing and raining on and off all day.😞We didn’t get chance to do much. I hope to go back in the near future to go shopping and see more of Red Wing when the weather is a lot warmer!

Red Wing is a good tourist town.

Red Wing is a good tourist town. It has all the amenities, and if you are antiquing, hiking, boating, or just want to hang out at historical venues, it is perfect. While there I visited seven different antique shops and went on four nature hiking trails. In particular, the Pottery Place is both a historical and beautiful place to visit. The cafe there is good too. There are a lot of restaurants, fast food and sit down. If you don't have a car, there is public transportation. Downtown is made up of historic old buildings with neat little stores. Overall, I will be visiting again.

Red Wing is a quaint town on the Mississippi River in Minnesota. A lot of history here....We were here for a wedding, so did not do any exploring, but we have added it to our -to-visit- list. We stayed at the St. James, and that was a wonderful experience! Across the river is Wisconsin....much more to explore! The Mississippi river expands here, and it is called Lake Pepin here. It is huge...rent houseboats, fish.......

Although the hotel was a little dated, it was quiet and the beds were comfortable. And where can you find smoking rooms anymore? A nice perk for my sister that drove me. Less than an hour away from the university hospitals, it’s a good value for the money. There’s a great Mexican restaurant right down the street along with other restaurants and shops. I liked the place and the staff was very friendly!

This is a beautiful, historic hotel. It speaks for itself but the staff was also phenomenal right on through from Bill in housekeeping, Oliver and Madelyn front desk and Bri our waitress. We wanted the whole classic experience of the old-timey era and we got it! Wondeful experience, beautiful rooms, delicious food, and insanely soft sheets. A 'worth the stay' place.
