Great location and the facility is well maintained. Love their valet parking as no need to worry about parking in the city. Especially, the doorman and front desk man were offering everything he made customer happier like the front desk person offered to bring ice for my daughter’s Stanley cup. We love this place.

Absolutely loved the vibe and staff that greeted on arrival. Friendly to the last minute you check out. That is everybody. The reception, the bell man whose services you even didn't require. Everyone maintains the impression that you the guest number one. This hotel is more like that Continental hotel from John Wick movies. The location beats all. There is happy hour with liqueurs from 17 to 18. In the mornings there is hot water and coffee in the lobby. Perfect San Francisco stay. There is more. The coffee espresso machine in the room is Illy. There are also refillable aluminum bottles for water. The pantry where you can refill are on 03 and 07 floor. Your will appreciate the rooms overlooking the inner yard as they are especially shielded from street noises. The BART station is Montgomery and is 07 mins walk. Not convinced? Ok Chipotle is next door ) go book now

We were very well taken care of during our stay at The Mansion on Sutter. The place is absolutely beautiful, feeling like a museum in addition to being a hotel. The staff was incredibly attentive to our needs. We were celebrating a birthday and were delighted to receive an upgrade, which made our stay even more special. We also discovered a fantastic gourmet Italian deli right in front of the hotel, and the food there was excellent. All in all, this was an amazing experience, and I would absolutely return in the future—something I’m already planning to do. Thank you to the very kind and generous staff for making our visit so memorable!

FAQs about hotels in San Francisco

An Icon of Liberalism

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.

Surrounded on 3 sides by water, it is spread over steep hills that make for great photo opportunities. None better than the zig-zag Lombard Street seen in many a film. Other movie stars are the streetcars plying the hill climbs – a little touristy, but still worth trying.

In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz island, famed for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t fancy going inside, the views towards the bridge and city are unparalleled.

Nowhere in San Francisco is life more laidback than on the Pacific beaches. Hire a bike and head out there via the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder served in (yes, actually in!) bread is a delight. Chinatown also has a great selection of good value restaurants.

As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want to stay in apartments along those lines, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something to suit. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here.

I went to San Francisco when I was 16 years old and was really scared by it and hated it. After talking to many many people over the years who told me it was a fantastic fantastic city. I thought I'd go back now. I'm a little older and see what it was like and I must say I'm not too sure what my brain was thinking about when I was younger because I found everyone was indeed correct. The city is fantastic so many cool areas to go and visit from pier 39 to the hippie area. Golden Gate Park is fantastic too. I enjoyed the food and the entertainment in short if someone asked me to move there, I would leave my wife and my cat and go there immediately.

So many things to do and see.

So many things to do and see. Lot's of opportunity to experience many diverse cultural things. You can't go wrong with any of the food and sights. From Pier 39, Coit Tower, to the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean the city was and at how friendly everyone was and so willing to assist tourists. We accidently went to Oakland. Very said and very scary. Definitely stay away from there.

Beautiful city and with lots to see and do. At least, you should stay 4 days and organize what you will do every day. Get a clipper card to move around the city with public transportation, which is organized and clean. My favorite places: Golden Gate Bridge, The Alcatraz tour, The cable car ride, The painted Ladies, Chinatown, The Golden Gate Park, Building Ferry Pier.

Make sure you bring warm clothes even in the summer as it gets really chilly. Ate at Fog Harbor. Food was really good. Went to Oracle Park. Always a good time at the ball park. Walked through the Warf. Always good to take a Cable Car ride. Go to Alcatraz is a must. Have an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista.

Our 2nd time here, nice to stay in a different part of the city. Tried the train, tram and trolley cars as I like to ride public transport with the locals. Sadly noticed a lot more mentally affected people this time not that they bothered me, I never felt unsafe here and would definitely come again. Pretty easy to get around and we were lucky to have great weather, late August, early September.

This hotel is a gem. We loved the great attention given to details: soft linen, comfortable beds, materials used, Smeg fridge in the rooms, perfect cleanliness, delicious pastries for breakfast,... Add to that that the staff is super friendly and helpful, that there is large chilling room and that the location is very very close to Union Square. Honestly, I don't think that there are two places like this in San Francisco: Value for money is impossible to be beaten.

The location of this property was ideal for exploring Union Square and China Town area. Plus easy reach to transport, in fact the trolley was only steps away. High on my priority list for a holiday is a comfy bed and this was the best. The staff are friendly (even gave my daughter chocolates for her birthday). We found the tea/coffee and breakfast pastries a real bonus. Would absolutely recommend this hotel and would stay again.
