    This is a wonderful launching pad for beautiful nearby towns such as Blue Hill, Deer Island, Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Seal Harbor, and, of course, Acadia National Park where one can view the entire seacoast from beautiful Cadillac Mountain.

    Southwest Harbor is much quieter than Bar Harbor.

    Southwest Harbor is much quieter than Bar Harbor. It is very walkable, with several restaurants and shops. It is a short drive to the Bass Harbor lighthouse and Acadia National Park. The city dock is open to the public, and you can get some good pictures of the harbor from the dock. I took my wife to the Red Sky restaurant for her birthday. It was very good.

    We wished we could have stayed longer as we liked the place.

    We wished we could have stayed longer as we liked the place. Next time we will try to come back during the high season as the area was getting ready for the spring and therefore not all shops yet re-open. But more important for our trip (Eastern 2024) it was not far from the Acadia park.

    We stayed in Southwest Harbor because it was the calmer side...

    We stayed in Southwest Harbor because it was the calmer side of the island. We spent most of our time in Acadia and Bar Harbor which was very busy with lots of people so having a calm place to stay and regroup was perfect for us. There was a coffee shop with delightful pastries and Ice cream place nearby. Thurston's lobster pound is where to go for a great experience, it was in Bass Harbor not to far from place of stay.

    We loved our time at the Lindenwood Inn- it was truly an oasis in a beautiful hidden gem village that is Southwest Harbor. Jim, Beth, Manuel and the rest of the team exceeded our expectations and made us feel right at home. Whether it was the delicious breakfast, the relaxing pool and hot tub, or the generous hospitality, we can’t wait to visit this little corner of paradise soon!

    Good point between acadia and Bar harbor. The house itself is spacious and looks like it's been newly redone. Having a full kitchen was great (plus grill) ! And it was fairly inexpensive for the area.

    The house was clean and tidy. PRO TIP: The nearby Claremont Hotel's Little Fern Restaurant is a great place for breakfast at reasonable prices.
