If you wish to park downtown on the main street, understand the boulevard is not wide enough for the driver to exit as traffic passes. You'll either lose your car door or your life, ha ha. It took us a day to discover the better dining experiences were one block south of the main street. Impossible to park but there is a free bus around town. Very crowded and 3 1/2 hours from Denver so not easy to get to. This was an early season ski trip for me.
This was an early season ski trip for me. Knowing that no one can control the snow, I was pleasantly surprised that a significant portion of the mountain was open. I really enjoyed the absence of lift lines and restaurant lines but I know this is an artifact of the early season skiing. The town is fun and people are very friendly which is nice when I travel alone. I will come again. I didn't have a car and utilized the bus or walked wherever I wanted to go. The bus is dependable and convenient once I knew where I wanted to go....you can't blame the bus if you don't know where you want to go. I took a shuttle to the regional airport in Hayden. That was pleasant to avoid the drive Denver and very dependable. (It is highly recommended that you book your shuttle trip in advance since you won't likely find a taxi there.)Guest review byJanetUnited States - 10.0

I wouldn't spend the money to go down Howelson Hill, the line took an hour for a two minute ride down the mountain. Kids did it once, no need to go back. Kids did zip line at Rabbit Ears pass, they loved it. We also did horseback riding a couple of years ago at Saddleback Ranch, worth the money, I rode a slow horse since I am a grandma and they matched the horse to each riders ability.
