We stay two nights at Bukhara. The people working at the hotel were allways available and very nice. They were very flexible with our late check-out due to taking a train late in the afternoon. We use the Laundry service and they had our clothes clean and dry in almost no time. The breakfast was nice and plentiful. On our second day they served us more of what they saw we had like the most. The location is very convenient right at the Lyabi Khause Square; next to shops, restaurantes and all the ancien city sights. It is also at the border of the walking area, so if you need to take a taxi to the train station, the car can peek you up from the hotel. The room was nice, big, clean and silent during the nights. It also has AC, so we could rest even in the summer heat. All the bathroom amenities were provided and refilled everyday.

The owners are extremely careful with all the guests’ needs. They give excellent advice, help in all the ways they can, and make you feel very welcome. The property is very well taken care of, typical for the area, in an excellent location ( you have everything around- the old town and the central square), nice terrace upstairs.

Our 2025 Bradt guidebook claimed Bukhara to be the cultural...

Our 2025 Bradt guidebook claimed Bukhara to be the cultural jewel of Uzbekistan and they were right. We were fortunate in that we visited during their first “Bukhara Biennial, a new contemporary initiative taking place from September 5th to November 20th, 2025 across newly restored historic landmarks in the city of Bukhara, a UNESCO Creative City of Craft & Folk Art”, resulting in many of the sights being adorned with modern art and installations including by our own Anthony Gormley! I think this had an influence on the visitors as the city had an almost bohemian feel to it. A very friendly and happy place. We were also fortunate to have a Saturday night dinner at Joy Chaikhana Lounge which was simply fabulous. We enjoyed Bukhara a lot more than Tashkent, Samarkand and Khiva, although it’s hard to make a fair comparison.

I visited the city for the Centural Asia Art Biennale.

I visited the city for the Centural Asia Art Biennale. The city is rich with ancient histories and middle aged buildings. They have full tourism services everywhere such as beautiful restuarants. But the old ruines of Madrasas, Mosques. and the old Bazaars are very beautiful. The Ark you shouldnt forget to pay 60,000 -80,000 sum for the entrance. But it is worthy to visit one time in life time.

    The city is a gem!

The city is a gem! All the gorgeous buildings are close enough together to save walking too much in the hot sun. Apart from the citadel, all the buildings are free, without the outrageous "tourist discount" (i.e. surcharge) of Thailand and especially India. I gave Bukhara four days, and that felt just about right. The only downside is the location of the Kagan/Bukhara railway station (15 km), but a Yandex Go taxi (the local equivalent of Grab or Uber) only costs 25,000-30,000 som (a tad over 2 dollars) provided you have a local SIM in your phone. A bargain!

Bukhara was a great place to visit.

Bukhara was a great place to visit. We had a personal guided walking tour, which was well worth the money we paid. There is so much to see in the town. I would highly recommend visiting here. It was very hot in the afternoons, otherwise we would have done more. Excellent restaurants in the town.

Bukhara is one of my all-time favorite places to visit.

Bukhara is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. Over the past 20 years, it has been spruced up a lot, almost to the point of loosing that air of ancient place - but it is more comfortable to walk due to brand new pavements everywhere and wide roads. During my visit, the city was prepping for the independence day celebration, and some places were closed or scaffolded for renovation, which i found very annoying. Overall, prices are very affordable; but i wish staff at historical sites were a bit more professional. Overall, the experience was that everyone was trying to make money above all.

I was only able to stay in Bukhara for ~18 hours, and that was not nearly enough time. From the very start of walking around, it was so stunning and welcoming - filled with tourists but somehow still feeling peaceful and calming. I would recommend this city as a visiting spot for anyone interested in this part of the world.

The hotel is a family business in a very central location. The young son of the house, Mironshox, welcomed us and settled us in our room. He was very polite. The hotel is within walking distance of the places to see. The breakfast was a home-cooked breakfast prepared by the family and was very nice. The rooms were very clean and in a quiet location. He also accompanied us to our taxi at check-out time. I am thinking of coming to Uzbekistan again next year. The hotel I will stay in Bukhara is certain at the moment. I recommend it.

This hotel is excellent across the board. It is, like everything in the old city, tricky to find, but they have signs up on nearby streets to help you find it. The staff are welcoming, the Wi-Fi is strong, the rooms are spacious, and the breakfast is so sumptuous that you can have your leftovers for lunch if you supplement them with fruit. The hostel is close both to the old town and to a couple of big streets (i.e., it has easy access to cheap taxis), and the beds are the most comfortable in which I slept in Uzbekistan.

The hotel is a very nice building of late XIX century with beautiful decorations. Both the room and the bathroom were spacious and clean and the staff comes every day to clean the room and replace the dirty towels (which doesn't always happen in Uzbekistan). Delicious buffet breakfast served at the restaurant with a great variety of food. The position of the hotel is excellent too, just few minutes walking distance from the wonderful historical centre of Bukhara.

Bob is just the nicest and most helpful host in Uzbekistan. He went massively out of his way to accommodate me, even doing some shopping and sending it to Nukus for me! On top of that, the room is nice and warm, and the breakfasts are varied, delicious and big portions! I really recommend staying here. Less than a five-minute walk to the old town and next to a good restaurant and a couple of little food shops.
