It has a great vibe, busy without being overwhelming, a nice little promenade and park along the Mekong and a pretty good dining and street food scene. There were some Westerners, but it felt completely untouristy. Small town.
Small town. No Grab service in Chau Doc. went to Tra Su cajuput forest by Taxi, in a remote area and hard to get transportation to the forest, taxi driver waited ( I didn't ask him to wait) he wanted to make more money with the return to town trip. Chau Doc is a lovely non touristy Vietnamese town and a good launch point for catching the ferry to Cambodia. The ferry stop is a 600m walk from the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
