Paternoster is a beautiful village with an outstanding beach. There are a wide choice of places to stay and some excellent restaurants in the area. We ate at Gaitjies and at the Voorstand restaurants. Gaitijies is excellent..creative cuisine , and Voorstrand serves delicious simpler food, but well worth a visit. C’est La Vie is undeniably a beautiful property, with stunning, unobstructed views of the sea and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it ideal for a relaxing getaway. The quiet surroundings were a real highlight—perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature. We did play some music one afternoon, well before the 9pm cutoff, but unfortunately received complaints and were informed of a strict no-noise policy. It would be helpful if this was clearly communicated in advance, as it did catch us off guard. The living room fireplace was a lovely touch and added a cozy charm to the space. However, the rest of the house lacked heating, which made sleeping quite uncomfortable, especially during cooler nights. Additionally, the property ran out of toilet paper during our stay, which was unexpected and inconvenient. Considering the premium cost of the rental, I believe management should address these issues to better align the experience with the price point. That said, the staff during booking and check-in were exceptionally helpful and courteous, which we really appreciated. Paternoster is our very favourite place in the entire Western Cape by far. It is still relatively unspoilt with wonderful scenery and excellent beaches. The house is beautifully decorated and have luxury appliances. It has limited dstv channels but also have Netflix and I think Amazon Prime. Magnificent sea views from all the windows. Good communication from the agents (Stay in Paternoster) through the whole booking process was excellent. Comfortable bed. My stay was a very short stopover to meet up with old friends living in Paternoster. I did not make use of the included breakfasts as they were served on the late side for my cramped schedule. Safe parking.
