Great hospitality. Comes with tea, coffee, fresh milk, bottled water. Place was so clean and so cozy. Fully equipped with a TV, wifi, air conditioning. Definitely great 10/10. The attention to detail was everything. From the little treats left on the bedside to the rusk biscuits which were so thoughtful. Super friendly owners. This will definitely be a place I would want to come back to.

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay here! When I booked the place, I almost couldn't believe the price compared to other good accommodation options in the area. The facilities were fantastic, Sandra was an exceptional hostess, extremely welcoming with lots of little touches like milk in the fridge provided for. The location on the game reserve is exceptional, we were able to walk around freely and saw buck, zebra and giraffe. The only complaint I have is that we couldn't stay even longer, even though it was offered to us by Sandra if our hiking in the Drakensberg didn't go to plan! I really can't express enough how much of a great option this is.

We loved the peaceful atmosphere, the attention to detail in the cottage and the beautiful scenery. The host was amazing and very helpful with assistance and providing all necessary information we needed. The staff are friendly and exceptional.     We had lunch at the pig and plough, nice menu - slow service, however, we still enjoyed the food and the venue. The Thokozi restaurant and Deli, good food and a nice variety. Sandra se Winkel was an experience - well worth going to when you are in the area.

    Winterton’s most attractive aspect is its proximity to the surrounding countryside and the magnificent Drakensberg mountains! There are some good eating places worth a visit! There are a number of churches and a museum for those interested! Winterton boasts with numerous accommodation facilities, all countrified and cosy!

    The tour was outstanding (by the owner)of the Anglo Boer battle sites. The location is perfect at Spionkop. The charming rooms could do with some aircon and bathrooms could do with modernisation but this shouldnt put off anyone from experiencing the Lodge. The staff all very friendly.

    The Drakensberg is and always will be an amazing holiday...

    The Drakensberg is and always will be an amazing holiday venue. Lots to do and plenty of places to eat. Scrumpy Jacks is overrated and I would skip this venue and rather go to The Valley Bakery for either a breakfast, lunch or snack - freshly baked and good value for money. The Dragons restaurant at Dragons Peak was our best meal of the trip and the menu is varied and well priced. Lots of stunning hikes all around and plenty of places of interest to visit. Quad bikes, Scoot Tours, Canopy tours, Bird of Prey centre, Reptile centre, ceramic, candle & carpet weavers and the list goes on.

    Beautiful place with the possibility of free movement in the surrounding nature. Very nicely maintained surroundings of the accommodation. Excellent restaurant and delicious meals. Swimming pool. The staff is pleasant and friendly. I can highly recommend.

    Everything! Never a moment to be bored. Beautiful, 83 year old hotel. Mountains are spectacular. Hikes for all ages. Bowling green. Chess. Pool. Climbing Wall. Games Room. Miniature golf. Golf course over the road. It’s the closest I’ve ever coming to a “family holiday resort” like Kellerman's Mountain House in Dirty Dancing. Activities every day, and the most incredible staff!
