Standing beside the Taki River, it features outdoor hot-spring baths and traditional in-room meals and is a 5-minute walk from Arima Onsen Train Station. The Japanese rooms have traditional futon bedding and a minibar. Arima Onsen is close to Kobe, but has a nice countryside feel about it. Our room was much larger than expected, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the onsen was very good, with the famous Arima golden water (salty and with high iron content). A nice detail in the onsen was that the gender seperating wall was lower at the end, enabling a conversation with my wife. The food was also very good, we stayed 2 nights and had 1 night dinner and breakfast in our room (for an extra charge). The ryokan also offers a free shuttle to the Arima Ropeway and to the railway station. The salon was also nice with free coffee and lots of books and a high-end tube amplifier. The building is wooden and old, so expect to hear some noise from your neighbours, but nothing too bad.

The room was clean and nice, the staffs very helpful, the location right next to Kobe China town and within walking distance to many other tourist attractions as well as station.

Villa Fontaine Kobe Sannomiya offers modern rooms with free wired internet access. Free Wi-Fi is available at the 5th floor lobby. The East Exit of JR Sannomiya Train Station is only a 5-minute walk away. The room was rather small but the bed was comfortable for me. I loved their breakfast, they had these cute mini croffle and grilled sandwich stations. The pastries at breakfast were wonderful and freshly baked. Great selections of delicious tea at the coffee lounge that you can enjoy freely. There was also an interesting wine vending machine that unfortunately we didn’t get to try. Loved how they carefully curated some local Kobe products in the food & drink. Location wise is close walking distance to the JR Sannomiya station and next door is a supermarket!
