This was our second stop upon arrival in Sri Lanka, after a night and day in Colombo. It has been my and my daughter's top favorite hotel and stay, because mainly of its colonial and historical charm. A wonderful place, led by a female manager, which is to be underlined, a very nice lady. The staff is local, the attention to detail as well (!), the food and breakfast are super copious, generous and fresh, there is a nice à la carte menu, and the pool is wonderful. My daughter enjoyed it! We were lucky to be and visit Galle during the week-end, so we didn't feel the over-touristic crowd and atmosphere, since many Sri Lankan were strolling along the city walls, visiting. This is definitely a very touristic spot, the many shops attest this, but there are a few very nice and niche places. Stay min 2 nights, and if you can and want you may tour the nearby beaches and towns and wildlife reserves from there, this is possible. We've also enjoyed our train ride from Colombo to Galle, which is not too long and absolutely wonderful in the lush coastline greenery. We loved our room, its setup, the geometry and decoration of the hotel, the beautiful purple lotus flowers and the local touches everywhere. Chic. It pleased my eye every day!
Hikkaduwa
Located in Hikkaduwa, Camellia Dwelling offers tranquil and comfortable accommodation with free WiFi access throughout the property. Featuring lush green gardens, it operates a 24-hour front desk and provides complimentary parking on site. Don't miss Camellia if you visit Hikkaduwa. We spent a week in the charming mansion Camellia, centrally and quietly located, a few minutes walk away from the beach and center. The building is a little hidden from the street and is surrounded by a blooming garden. The room with all amenities was spacious and quiet. Our host Paddy spoiled us with a delicious and varied breakfast, he showed us the eating habits of the country with the respective national dishes. His humor and knowledge of the country and its people was unique, he helped his guests and also us with reservations, excursions and transfers. We highly recommend this property and will book this accommodation again on our visit.

The property is close to Galle Light house, Galle Fort and Galle Fort National Museum. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk and full-day security for guests. The room was super spacious with high ceilings, making it feel airy and bright. The bathroom was also large and very functional. But it’s not just the room—the entire building was spotless! We even had our own rooftop with an incredible view. We stayed for five days and never even left the Fort area—everything, from top-class restaurants to cozy cafés, was within walking distance, so we didn’t need a tuk-tuk at all. The people were amazing—always kind and smiling. Next time we visit, we won’t even look for another place; we’ll definitely stay here again. 100% recommended!
Unawatuna
Adjacent to Unawatuna Beach, Sergent House is set in a boutique villa showcasing colonial architecture and originating in the 1800's. It is a three minute walk to the Unawatuna Beach and a 15 minute drive away from the historic 16th - 17th century Galle Fort. Absolutely beautiful Hotel. I would like this to be my home. Hikkaduwa Beach, Hikkaduwa
Roman Beach offers spacious air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, high ceilings and views of the sea. Located on Hikkaduwa Beach, it presents an outdoor pool and a private beachfront. Free parking is available. We had a wonderful stay at Roman Beach Hotel. The service was exceptional and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was another highlight — delicious, with large portions that really exceeded expectations. The hotel wasn’t crowded, which made the atmosphere very relaxing. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. It does show a bit of age, but nothing that affects comfort. We also had a jacuzzi in the room, which was a nice touch. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly — we were able to stream Netflix and YouTube without any lag. There was no TV in the room, possibly removed for repairs. Also, since we were on the top floor, the water pressure was a bit low. The location is right on the beachfront, but the beach itself is almost non-existent as the sea comes very close to the property. However, Narigama Beach is just a short 30-meter walk away and is much better for a beach experience. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and comfortable stay. Exceptional value for money. Would definitely recommend!
Hikkaduwa Beach, Hikkaduwa

Boasting views of the Indian Ocean, rooms at Suite Lanka feature Ceylonese décor and wooden furnishings. Each air-conditioned room has a fan, fridge with minibar, and ample seating areas. Private bathrooms provide a hot and cold shower.
I love that it is a small enough hotel that you get a personal touch from the staff. It has everything you need to relax and have a truly chilled experience yet the facility feels levels above the surrounding hotel options. The restaurant (Olins) is incredible and was so good that we only chose to eat outside of the hotel on a couple of occasions.

This is a stylist small luxury estate that was a highlight of our time in Sri Lanka. Gorgeous gardens, great views, amazing pool, great accommodation and lovely meal.
Beautiful old colonial building. The interior design and nooks to just sit and relax in were stunning. Breakfast was really excellent. Location in Galle Fort was perfect for wandering around the town and the shops. The staff at the front desk were keen to go over and above to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommend.
Had the most wonderful time at Harding Boutique Hotel. Staff are so welcoming & helpful. Such a beautifully designed hotel with outdoor shower & bath. A special mention to the gardener who worked so hard to keep the lovely tropical plants around the pool looking so lush. The Hotel even has some local peacocks that visit in the afternoons! Food is outstanding, both the breakfasts & dinner at the rooftop restaurant we will definitely be back!
The villa overall is absolutely gorgeous. Looking right out onto the beach and the villa is so lovely and tropical modern in its design and aesthetic. There are two villas, one each side of a fabulous pool in the middle. The chef was amazing with incredible food and service, we were on full board which we highly recommend - once you arrive it’s very hard to leave. The caretaker, groundsmen and security were all fantastic. We would absolutely recommend this accommodation.
Gorgeous rooms and super comfy bed. Really nicely designed and super clean. Lots of breakfast options and staff were lovely.
Amazing place, stylish design and interiors, lovely staff, great food.
A lovely boutique hotel which is well designed and has a special feel. The staff were attentive and super helpful, looking after our bags as we had an evening flight. The breakfast was absolutely delicious (make sure to get the Sri Lankan breakfast). Great location, right in the centre of the old fort.
The little hotel was just gorgeous, super quiet, clean and green and the interior design was very special. The rooms were pretty so pretty, we right away extended for another night. Above all, the staff was so lovely and helpful, it was a real pleasure to stay there! There are various options for breakfast, we got each a large plate of fresh and delicious fruit and then went for the Sri Lankan option. I can only recommend!
Harding Boutique Hotel is an oasis, highly recommend to spend a night or two in this amazing designer building. We have travelled around Sri Lanka, the West-, South and East coast, living in over 30 hotels and Harding is on our Top 3-list. The food is on the high end of Sri Lankan cousin, we loved eveything we ate from the menu during our three day stay. The President Suite was a great upgrade! This is a place you want to stay in and enjoy without any other plans out and about. Again, highly recommend it. We will be back in 2023 :)
