Featuring impressive ocean views and an outdoor swimming pool, Villa Atulya at Ocean's edge is set at the seafront in South Mirissa. The building is an exclusive villa and features colourful rooms with antique furnishings and free Wi-Fi. I loved so many things. It was different from anything I had stayed in on this trip and was great value for money, it felt very luxurious. I loved the fact I felt so at home and it was all so serene. It's set on the beachfront in a quieter part of town where you can sleep with the wonderful sound of the ocean. I had a huge ground floor room leading out to lovely gardens and then the ocean. All so tastefully done with beautiful design and furnishings and the most comfortable bed I've come across on my trip. The equally spacious bathroom had an amazing rain shower and was beautifully designed. The hotel has 10 rooms and it was full when I was there but I only ever saw one other guest due to the clever design that gives everyone space outside and around their rooms. I opted for Sri Lankan breakfasts which you order the night before but they came around in the evening taking orders. It was a huge serving and delicious and I appreciated the effort to make it non spicy and the touch of the tea pot and tea box offering a variety of teas, nice touch. For those looking for a chilled spot, I highly recommend this place.

Situated 1 km from whale watching at Mirissa Lagoon, Morning Star Guest House offers a spacious common living area with plush sofas, a flat-screen TV, and a seaview balcony. Complimentary Wi-Fi access is provided. It was great being able to walk to Turtle Bay & Marissa Beach. There were restaurants on the beach. We were able to rent a mask to snorkel & see the turtles.
