Amazing location, super helpful staff went above and beyond for us, and we got a great traditional chinese dinner and a lovely european breakfast for a decent price. Amazing access to parts of the wall where you wont be drowning in a sea of tourists - we hardly met anyone while hiking it.

The place is a small guesthouse in a local holiday cooperative, 2km away from Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall. The hosts were very nice and helpful, trying their best to speak English, which is very appreciable in China. They proposed taxi for the Great Wall or the airport, they prepared dinner on-demand, which was quite good (dumplings, roasted eggplants, skewers...). The beds are very comfy and the shower water is hot. Very good value for the price.

Accommodation is amazing, truly boutique hostel. Hosts offer everything you could possibly want or need - from collecting at the station to fantastic breakfasts/evening meals and freshly brewed coffee as well! In terms of visiting the wall you will get the very best authentic experience including drop offs and pick ups, sunrise/sunset walks or be left alone to be totally independent. One of the very places I’ve been lucky enough to stay in. Yay.

the stay exceeded my expectations. both hosts are welcoming, enthusiastic, and down to earth.
when we arrived, we discussed our travel plans with the hosts and they gave us plenty of helpful suggestions and even offered driving service. after exploring jinshanling the next day, the host picked us up, gave us a quick tour around gubeikou town, sharing the beauty and history of the town, then sent us to the train station.
breakfast was authentic and delicious (loved the soy milk, 油炸饼, and 疙瘩汤).
overall, this was a wonderful start to our beijing trip, with comfy place, thoughtful hosts, and beautiful surroundings. highly recommend staying here. 10/10.

The family is a wonderful host with amazing food, very spacious and clean rooms and perfect location for the Wall-Entrance.
