Owner is amazing and lovely! His English is great and he is so generous. He helped me carry my 20 kg suitcase up the stairs to my bed. The facilities are great and it's very comfortable to have women only areas. Would definitely come again if I'm ever back to kyoto

Ryokan Tori is truly a remarkable place where traditional Japanese design blends seamlessly with modern comforts. The hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming, making every guest feel at home from the moment they arrive. Even though we couldn’t check in until 4 pm on our first day they gave us wonderful advice on what to see in the area, so time flew by quickly. We can honestly say that we enjoyed the best breakfasts of our entire trip to Japan here, and the tea ceremony was an unforgettable experience — it felt so special to be able to watch and taste tea prepared in such a traditional way. After long days of exploring Kyoto, the onsen was the perfect way to relax each evening. The futons were very comfortable, and our room was both spacious and beautifully decorated. This ryokan has given us memories we will treasure, and we truly hope to return one day.

The hotel is a small boutique hotel located by Kamogawa river, close to subway and Eizan railway. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and always willing to help. I have been to Kyoto many times but staying at Riverte Kyoto Kamogawa had definitely made this trip even more enjoyable and comfortable. The hotel provides different local sweets and snacks everyday in the room so it’s always a surprise what I come back and find. The amenities in the room is well equipped with superb quality. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re ever in Kyoto and wish to stay somewhere away from the busy downtown. Look forward to stay here again in the future. PS. Crosta deliver my luggage to the hotel since I arrived very early in the morning. Then it’s hassle free to wander around without dragging the luggage to the hotel before check-in time. Excellent location, 300m from metro (Kyoto bus w/luggage is a pain) so station is easy. Imperial palace is next door. Silent street. Host is friendly, room is indeed spacious, furnished tastefully. Lots of wall sockets. Microwave, fridge is good to have. Openable window, balcony.

The manager allowed us to check in early and prepared a lovely surprise with champagne, mochi, and a romantic decoration—an extra bed for our kid free of charge. Originally, we booked a Panoramic Suite but changed to a Garden Suite as we wanted to have breakfast in the greenery. The staff was super accommodating and let us use their company phone, as I left mine in the taxi. Luckily, we kept the receipt, and it is on its way back to us. Thanks so much for arranging. We extended for another day. The concierge booked a great Teppanyaki experience, a taxi on the way back by the front desk, as we were exhausted. Very thoughtful. Ultra-modern. Smart home system. TVs supported dual Bluetooth headsets, and we made movie night while our sonny was sleeping. Complimentary minibar, refilled every day. Including white wine, snacks, coffee, tea, etc. Breakfast was delivered to our suite every morning, varying every day. Imperial Palace is a few minutes' walk away. It has beautiful gardens and Riverside cycling, and we used the picnic blanket from the room for riverside lunch. The local market is impressive, with delicious confectionary shops. This hotel is located in the north, close to nature and most attractions. The train station is also a few minutes walk, but we have not used it. Most attractions are walkable. We prefer it to be quieter than downtown, so this was perfect.
