This was my best stay in Japan. I had the most welcoming hosts whose recomendationions really made my time in Kyoto unforgettable. Toni also offered a lovely homemade traditional Japanese breakfast the first day.

I stayed for more than two weeks at the hotel. I had a great stay. The bathroom and shower room were always perfectly cleaned. The people working there were very nice and helpful. The bedding was comfortable. And the hotel is very calm.

The staff make this hotel. Location is fine, rooms are nice, traditional with modern style and touches but the staff make the place. Ignore the star rating, that's down to minimal additional facilities, if you don't want/need a pool etc, you can't go wrong here.
