The room was spacious and clean. Free snacks and tea were included, and amenities were readily available. Dinner was excellent, and breakfast was good, too. I tried 3 out of 4 of the public baths (none of the reservable private ones, though) and found them all to be very nice. I liked the indoor one on the 8th floor (which had an open air as well) the most, though the open air bath on the 11th floor was great , too. Staff were very friendly and warm, too. It was easy to access from Ogoto onsen station because there's a phone that allows you to call the shuttle bus.

The breakfast was very good, quite a variety. Tasty the Japanese way. The location is a bit far out but the train and their shuttle helped a lot. Place is nice and quiet to relax. As I am a Muslim I was happy to see that you have the Japan Halal certification so we feel confidant to come again and share news with family and friends. You also had souveniers but I had to scan one by one to see if it is halal.

everything was perfect, how they welcome you and explain the facilities, everyone was very kind and accomodating (my friend is vegetarian and they change the menu accordingly) the food was delicious, the room was clean, spacious and the futon super comfy.
With an additional charge (but totally worth it) it's possible to use the near hotel's baths, that have open air baths at different floor (the 8th and 11th are amazing!)
I would totally come back if I can.
Thanks so much for an amazing experience!

Everything was great. We were 1 short because of sickness, but we had already payed and I didn’t even think about asking for money back. But the women who greeted us insisted and talked to bookings so we could get some of the money back for the room. Even do it was the same room we used. Very good breakfast, they held a fun and educating tea ceremony. The room was nice and comfortable. And when we used their washing machine they asked if they could fold our clothes and bring it to our room so we didn’t have to wait for the laundry to be done. We have only good things to say about Inase Otsu Machiya and the staff.

This hotel was very beautiful and relaxing. The drinks at the bar were delicious and so was our breakfast! The staff were friendly and accommodating to our English speaking. They even helped us make a reservation at a nearby restaurant and coordinated our transportation to and from the restaurant so that we were able to have a few drinks. It was a very special experience, especially because we were on our honeymoon! I’m so glad we stayed here.

Don’t hesitate to book this place if you’re going to Otsu. The hotel is beautifully designed - bringing out historic features with modern touches. The free walking tour (in English) was so, so interesting. We didn’t book the breakfast but the welcome treat was delicious!

The property is a small but cozy standalone house with a number of traditional features, a large terrace and plenty of parking. It is an ideal location for the nearby temples as well as the national park and the popular temples at the top of Mount Hiei. The host is wonderful and responsive and speaks very good English. They met us on arrival and came to wish us safe trip on departure. Kyoto is relatively easily reachable, but I would recommend a car not only to get out to Kyoto, but also to get around -- there is tons to see in the area. However, you can equally stay in the village for a couple of days w/o the need of getting out anywhere given the local serenity of temples! The village has all the amenities and during the day time even lots of restaurants next to the temples.
