The hotel itself was traditional Japanese style, the futons were comfortable and the staff was kind and and helpful. The Onsen is amazing and the sake bar was a very nice touch to complete a great stay

Great staff. They made sure to have someone on hand who had lived in the US and spoke perfect English, and had translated the menu for our group of mixed Japanese language ability. Comfortable rooms and great baths.

We loved our stay at this traditional Ryokan! The room was so beautiful with its Tatami floor and the transparent paper doors (Shoji) separating the sleeping area from the balcony all located on the 4th floor with a nice view. The owners are so welcoming and helpful! They offered us to drive us to the monkey park and gave us keys to three public Onsen in Yamanouchi which were very very hot but so beautiful! The Yukata provided are pretty and the hotel even has got two Onsen itself (men/women). Around the corner there also is a great sushi place that the owner recommended us for good vegetarian sushi!

Excellent hotel with onsen. The open air onsen is the best one. Nice welcoming hosts. Quite neighborhood. Super close to train station and bus station, and convenience store. When checking out, I noticed that there a lot of souvenirs from guests from different countries, so bring one from your country when visiting :) If you want to visit snow monkey park, best time is in winter, otherwise the chances of seeing the monkey are low (we saw only one in late October)

One of the best hotels I have been to. Located in a cosy village close to the snow monkey park, friendly staff who gave us a ride to the monkey park, spacious rooms with a nice tatami area. If you go, book a dinner. It was just amazing, lots of varieties and everything was delicious! The best meal out of many splendid ones we had during our trip to Japan.

Very nice place, onsen was available through the night, room was quite spacius, chef took into considerations my allergies and the free shuttle bus took us not only to the snow monkey park but also to the station and at earlier hour so we didn't have to rush for the train.
