It was one of the most beautiful experiences we had! The two owners pay attention at every little detail and request, and even go beyond that. I really suggest trying both breakfast and dinner. It was a real surprise! I didn't expect so much to eat, and even to be this good.
I really recommend visiting!

Our stay was incredible. We absolutely loved all of it. I would recommend staying at least two nights and make sure to include breakfast and dinner as part of the experience.
The food was exceptional but more importantly our hosts explained every dish and were more than accommodating for our requirements. They offer a range of wine and saki which we purchased aswell.
Unsure of the onsen process we were shown where to bath and enjoyed a half hour private onsen in the evening.
We had one of the best sleeps ever!
Hands down such a great ryokan made even better by the wonderful hosts who are happy to help. We will be back for sure.

1/ easy to contact by messages. Very reactive.
2/ WE were transported by car from the station (200m walk) very convenient when you have many luggages.
3/ you feel special from the start to the finish. The personnel were very classy, helpful, polite.
4/ We had the suite with the private onsen. It was a surprise to discover also a private sauna and massage chair. The luxuary in that room is incredible. Worth every yen (and we are not the kind of people that spend much on hotels, it was a luxuary that we granted ourselves for a special occasion and it made it very special)
5/ the breakfast Is top class japanese cuisine
6/ i recommand getting thé dinner (full kaiseki course). Master class delights. We had a proper private dining room for ourselves (i think included with the suit).
7/ the private onsen... Excellent with a good view.
8/ yudanaka IS a very nice village

Thanks Mr Shimaya and all the staff! We were 4 people and we spent two nights in this traditional Japanese-style room, very comfortable. All the essentials were present. The futons were very soft and warm. The room consisted of an entrance hall, a fairly large main room, a small room with shower, a sink, an outdoor room divided by paper walls with a table and two chairs and the necessary to make tea and enjoy the view of the panorama offered by Yudanaka, a small closet immediately alongside containing a toilet, and finally an external balcony. Inside the structure it is possible to have breakfast (we have not opted for this service so I cannot express myself on the matter), but the most important thing is the presence of an internal onsen (no mixed gender), that you can use how much do you want. It was beautyful. There is also the possibility of getting a very characteristic public onsen's key right behind the hotel. The first morning the Shimaya staff accompanied us to the Snow Monkey Park for free. In the early afternoon we have Booked the private onsen where you can go dressed a bit like in the pool, to bring even the most reluctant to bring this wonderful aspect of Japanese culture. Mr Shimaya was great to advice us for where tò eat or what to do nearby, and he was very kind with all of us. Thanks again from all 4 of us, we loved every minute spent there.

The hotel was exactly what we hoped for. It was traditional in style, had a range of bath options and looked fantastic. The room had plenty of space for two people and was stylish and warm. It was comfortable and the staff were very helpful and attentive but not at all intrusive. Our lack of Japanese was no issue for them or us. It was an easy walk to the Yadanaka train station and bus stop to the snow monkey park. The dinners and breakfasts were amazing.

It is by far the most outstanding place we have stayed in throughout Japan. The level of service excellence, the amenities and the attention to detail reaches heights unmatched by any other place we have seen or stayed at.

One of the best hotels I have been to. Located in a cosy village close to the snow monkey park, friendly staff who gave us a ride to the monkey park, spacious rooms with a nice tatami area. If you go, book a dinner. It was just amazing, lots of varieties and everything was delicious! The best meal out of many splendid ones we had during our trip to Japan.
