I was very lucky to have a 4-bunk room all to myself, and it came with a private bathroom/shower accessible within the room, other guests informed me they had to use the bathroom at the end of the hall. For $47 a night i felt this was very worth it, the place felt clean. they left the sheets for me to put on myself. They had soap and shampoo in the shower and a cleaning lady came in every day to clean the bathroom. I joined a free pub crawl put on by the hostel and had an amazing time! The room is pretty well insulated and has a heater if needed. The location is a little loud at night bc it’s right on the line of the tenderloin - a not so savory area - but nothing that kept me up or made me feel unsafe in my comings & goings

I liked the location a lot. It's just walking distance to different stores and restaurants, as well as the hop-on hop-off bus stop. I loved the water refilling area, tea and coffee nook, and the bar as well. There is a historic feel in staying here. They also offered different choices of special pillows for free. I highly recommend this place.

Location was good. Clean rooms. Well furnished. Comfortable beds and good and discrete housecleaning. The pool was fine with dressing room and shower. Internet worked well.

It couldn’t be in a more perfect location to get around the city. Get a travel card and the bus, tram, cable car is just around the actual corner . Near to music venues, stadiums, the Castro and warf. In the heart of union square if you want expensive watches and jewellery or the best cheesecake at the cheesecake factory. Couldn’t be in a better location. Ideal if you love museums and gallery’s on your doorstep. Moma and Franklin well worth the visit.

The Handlery Union Square Hotel is amazing! It’s right in the heart of Union Square, making it super convenient for shopping, restaurants, and everything San Francisco has to offer. The room was way more comfortable than I expected for an older hotel, and the bed was so cozy. The staff were fantastic—they let us check in early at 10 a.m. and gave us a late check-out at 1 p.m., which I’ve never experienced anywhere else. We stayed for seven days, and everything was great from start to finish. I’ll definitely stay here again!
