Jalal is a host par excellence! We got ourselves into a bit of bother when going back to English Country Garden to retrieve some belongings that we left behind and he went out of his way without hesitation to help us when we got stranded in the Cape Breton wilderness. The stay at English Country Garden was very comfortable and Heike and Jalal were very welcoming hosts, offerring great advice on things to do, where to eat, etc.

Everything was perfect! A reminder that one can live off grid and live very well. I left here determined to hone my self sufficiency skills. Meeting Regina was very nice. We left feeling like we’ve known her for a long time. She made us feel so welcome and at home. Her bread is absolutely amazing. We are eager to come again next year and hope to meet Christian too. So glad we found this retreat and loved the Bald Eagle’s Nest. Thank you very much for making a little 4 night vacation special.

EVERYTHING, it’s a gem in the Cabot Trail, we had the best time. Holger and his wife Betty are the best hosts taking care of all details to make sure we had an amazing stay. The hotel, the common areas and the rooms are so unique and the surroundings are so beautiful and peaceful. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was a wonderful and delicious experience. I can’t recommend this place enough.

A lovely stay in a wooden cabin tucked into the forest. Cosy but comfortable with a communal kitchen that we really appreciated to save costs on meals in restaurants. A lovely walk to the beach and the most amazing pannekoek for breakfast and some of the best coffee on the island! Don't miss the breakfast in the Cafe!

We were there during full moon midsummer and it was incredibly beautiful and a superb location. We visited the Bird Islands opposite the property and were guided by our lovely hostess Lani. She is very friendly indeed. Super .
