Such a beautiful place to stay in the countryside of Normandy. Very comfortable and amazing value for cost. Beautifully decorated and so much better than what we were expecting. Would stay again and recommend it in a heartbeat. Appreciated the bottle of cider and breakfast left for us. Easy to communicate with hosts.

Our hosts were warm and welcoming. We rented Le Petit Columbier house.. It overlooked the lake. Seeing, talking to and feeding the resident Geese, Ducks and the baby ducklings was a real highlight and a bonus for us all. Great facilities available (eg BBQ's, personal outside spaces and lounge chairs)

Unexpected. And Wonderful. This is a very unique place to stay. The hotel itself is in a building from the 1500’s and is part of an estate that the owner has been meticulously refurbishing. He and his wife are both very interesting people. They also have a wonderful Burnese Mountain dog. The building/hotel owner is an admitted enthusiast of WWII history. During war the building served as the headquarters for a German general and, after D-Day, for General James Lawton Collins. Part of the building now houses a very unique military museum (https://www.tripadvisor.ie/Attraction_Review-g608795-d25576850-Reviews-D_DAY_Collins_Museum-Sainte_Mere_Eglise_Manche_Basse_Normandie_Normandy.html). The bedrooms have all been recently decorated and are beautiful. Each room is named after a WWII general (Eisenhower, Bradley, Collins, etc.) Breakfast was terrific.

Beautiful property with lovely rustic design ( little French haven). The apartment is super clean and equipped in everything you need for a home away experience.Very quiet street and super comfy beds guarantee a good night’s sleep. The house is much bigger and better than the pictures. Big Carrefour supermarket 1 minut walk away! Secure car park and nice small garden. We loved it here and will recommend it to anyone! Thanks to the owner - a lovely and kind lady with great English!

It was great! It's like you walked back in history, with all the comforts of present, very immersive, very well thought and designed. Great experience!

Quality of the room, surroundings and especially the restaurant.

La Baumee, also known as 'The Rabbit Farm' is a unique experience and one we want to return to. We stayed 5 nights in the Chambres d'Hote which is a charming stone building on one side of the farm's courtyard. The other 3 sides comprised the gite and museum, the bar and hosts' rooms above and finally the main house. The grounds are laid to lawn and meadows with the farm set back from the road and discreetly hidden by the hedgerows of the bocage. The whole of the Farm has been renovated by the owners Emmanuelle and Mathieu, and the impression given is of great care and style. Our room was very large with an extremely comfortable and modern superking bed, lounge area, terrace and a unique dressing table/ writing desk. The room has a superb, powerful walk in shower and is tiled throughout with mellow travertine tiles that match the stonework walls. Very good air conditioning too, much needed on days that reached 26C. Breakfast is taken in the bar, across the gravel laid farmyard, and, as is the case across the complex, the theme is retro '44 with modern seating and WWII memorabilia and music. A good continental breakfast with fresh fruit, choice of yoghurts and pastries and limitless hot drinks. A special mention for the dark, dark, hot chocolate! What makes La Baumee unique is it's private museum, open to guests and available to the public to view by appointment. The museum is appropriately located at La Baumee which served as a Command Post and Aid Station for the airborne groups on D Day. The sense of history from being on the same site as the photographed soldiers prepares you for the wonderful museum. Of all the displays seen during our stay, the museum at La Baumee will stay with us longer as it connected us more thoroughly to the lives and experiences of the troops who liberated Europe. Emmanuelle and Mathieu have built with friends and with care a living memorial, a place to reflect on and enjoy our fleeting lives.
