It feels like time froze at this hotel and it’s so fun. We had a Japanese-style room at the top floor, overlooking the ocean and that view is really the highlight, I could just stare at it all day. The staff were kind and helpful, the cave onsen were brilliant and somehow not crowded. We had easy parking right next to our building. Having a car allowed us to go out for dinners, otherwise I think this might be difficult if you only rely on the hotel’s transport. Oh and that random escalator system that takes you to the top of the hill (great views) is so random.

The location of this homestay is extremely convenient. It's right beside the pedestrian overpass near Kii Tanabe Station. The facilities are well-equipped, and there is a hot spring bathtub in the bathroom. The tuna set dinner provided is delicious. Both the boss and the service staff are considerate and polite. There's no need to worry about communication problems either. The boss can use a translation software to write out clear communication content, showing kindness and consideration to the guests.

The building is a large house that has been renovated by the man who runs it with exquisite taste. When you walk in, you can’t believe it’s a guesthouse and not a luxury mansion. Every detail is carefully taken care of, and everything is incredibly clean. The furnishings are high quality, and the beds are amazingly comfortable, as are the towels and everything else in the accommodation. Upon entering, there is a large central living room with spectacular sea views, and the man who runs the guesthouse makes you feel at home from the very first moment. Not only does he speak perfect English and give excellent recommendations, but he also makes sure you’re comfortable at all times. He’s the kindest person we’ve met in Japan! It’s clear he takes great care of the house and truly enjoys his work—he makes you feel incredibly welcome. We would definitely come back, and it’s 100% recommended for anyone. You absolutely must come and experience it!

The house was spotless and had all the necessary amenities for a very comfortable stay. We loved that it’s a fusion of traditional Japanese and modern interior decor. Looks like it has just been done up. All the appliances look new. Our host is a lovely lady who showered our child and us with omiage and treats. Wish we could stay longer!

A beautiful place, the house was perfect and very beautiful. Comfortable and pleasant. The quiet environment, and close to the things that are needed (a konbini "family mart", bus and train station) ... the very nice beach and the perfect water. In addition, the gentleman, owner of the house, very friendly and helpful. I hope to return again. Thank you for everything.

Classic hotel with the best onsen. The hotel complex is massive and takes a while to get around but is great fun to explore. We had full board and the food was very good, lots to choose from. Plenty of sashimi plenty of everything. Parking is a fair way from the hotel with shuttle buses provided on a regular basis. Make sure you get up early to get to the 7am Tuna auctions, absolutely amazing.

A really interesting hotel which is a network of three buildings carved inside and on top of a mountain cliff. It offers a variety of shops and Entertainment (mostly for kids) as well as many bath options. There is a shuttle boat the bring you to the port of Katsuura which has some good restaurant options. Spacious rooms and nice view of the sea. English speaking staff at the front desk.

Cave onsens were fun. Food was good but didn't vary although as we stayed 3 nights we received treats at dinner on nights 2 and 3. Shuttle service was efficient, both by boat and minibus. Room view over the harbour was entertaining.

Better than expected from the reports of a dated hotel. Clean, large Japanese room with a view of the bay and great cave onsen overlooking the sea. Nice ride in ferry to and from Hotel. Dinner and breakfast left nothing to be desired, such variety. The tuna available from the fish market is outstanding and so affordable. A most pleasant stay.

The onsens were fantastic, they have a Lawson konbini on-site, there’s a Shinto shrine and lookout point that you can go to that oversees the sleepy town. Do check-in early to enjoy the fantastic ocean view form the onsens before it gets dark. Go to minimum 3 onsens for its stamps and you get free bath salts. They give complimentary local tidbits which were heavenly. Hotel staff can speak and understand decent English and they have coin laundry on-site. The boat ride there was fun
