The place was very cute, super comfortable, clean, and welcoming. I felt right at home and the entire building is sitting in this very cute location. The owner had 2 cats which roam around the property. It was great to see them. The hosts were also very attentive and friendly. I had a great time speaking to them in Japanese, but they seem to manage really well with people don't speak Japanese. The best thing for sure was that they totally saved me twice! I didn't realize how rural this place was when I booked it. On the map, it looked more accessible on foot and it was only when I was heading to Aso that I would be in trouble because of my luggage. The host offered to pick me up from Akamizu and the even to take me back to get dinner/use the onsen. Later, they also offered to drive me to Tateno station for my departure train. This saved me so much stress. I couldn't walked with my luggage, but it would have been miserable. Overall, I had a really wonderful time staying here. Felt very peaceful and I was able to relax, especially after my long hike on Mt. Aso.

Great hotel, very well located if you have a car and want to visit the Aso region. The owner is super nice and helpful, and his wife’s restaurant is so yummy ! I recommend !

The accommodation is a very big tradition Japanese house. The host is very friendly and interesting. You may request the host to prepare (DIY) BBQ for dinner. It is delicious and interesting, highly recommended. They heat the volcano stone to cook the BBQ.

Let me start with an advise; when you come to Japan go to Kyushu and stay in this hotel. My wife and I enjoy our last evening here (we stayed 5 nights) and this hotel is excellent. The location, the room (we stayed in the suite), the food, but most of all the excellent staff. The staff make you feel welcome, the service is warm and personal, yet professional at the same time. They know who you are from the moment you arrive. One of the best performances we experienced and we travel a lot. My wife has a rare allergy and they provided special meals for here. Exceptional. The hotel is also very clean and is recently renovated. The onsen in the room and the public one are comfortabel / beautiful. The location is perfect to visit Mount Aso, Kumamoto, Beppu, Oita, Takachiho gorge et cetera. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Our stay was perfect! We decided to enjoy the beauty of Aso a bit longer and booked the house quite late, but everything went great. The host was very kind and communicated with us in English. When we arrived, it felt like visiting parents in a cozy country home — we felt so comfortable. And the breakfast was delicious! The location was beautiful - the windows overlooked rice fields and a forested areas. We were able to enjoy nature without having any creepy crawlies enter the property. The house was spotless and the furniture and equipment looked very new. The house had pretty much all the basic amenities we expected and we had a very comfortable 1-week stay, cooking lots of meals from the kitchen in the property. We also loved that there was a BBQ pit embedded in a table right on our own porch. We had many barbecues during our stay because it was lovely to grill our meats while enjoying the early summer weather in the evenings. The property owners were also responsive and helped us with the queries we had very quickly over Booking.com messaging. The shower and bath were very clean and new. We enjoyed hot baths using the tub which filled automatically. All in all, we were very sad to leave! We loved how quiet and close to nature the house was and loved the beautiful views of the area. We were also able to use the property as a base to visit Mt Aso for hiking and make day trips to Takachiho Gorge. We would love to stay again at this property.

Everything you could need was provided and communication was superb. The home was not only comfortable, but provided lovely views of the caldera and surrounding environments. Would definitely stay again!
