A great find on our trip. Extremely kind and friendly hosts. Food was delicious..we had an evening meal..was lovely. Breakfast was amazing. A great family run business. And you are within easy reach of all the lovely sacred sites of Anuradhapura. Any questions were answered.100 percent recommend. A great young waiter too who shared his home grown bannanas. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed! Jonti was always attentive, he kept the place clean and tidy, a kind soul to chat with! I enjoyed cooking and sharing food with my roommates, and just chilling out in the common area. Watching animals coming and going in the garden was fun - mongoose, monkey, parrot, Bengali monitor, woodpecker, kingfisher, hornbill, etc. Two minutes walk to the lake for sunrise/sunset. Truly a gem in Anuradhapura!

Spacious, beautiful and clean room with a large TV and comfortable bed. We had a exceptional supports from the owner and family for our two days visit. Restaurants, shops, banks in walking distance. Silent and calm environment with good security. Surely we will come back again.

An absolute haven close to the sacred city sites of Anuradhapura. Peaceful, set back about 75m from the road. Beautifully appointed rooms and a welcoming dining/reception area - exactly as shown in the photos on this site. What the photos do not reveal is the exceptional service and kindness of the owner and all of his staff. Nor do they convey the outstanding quality of the meals served. It is rare to find a welcoming home away from home as good as Golden Ray Villa and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

ThilakaRatne & his wife Kanchana are really hardworking & amazing hosts. The property itself is amidst the Paddy fields on one side & the jungle to the other side, which makes an ideal place to stay if you love nature. Thilakaratne has his own farm & he lays all those fresh produces on your table everyday. The Food they served were all very delocious & they were also very reasonably priced. I also took the tuktuk services, where he himself drove me around the Anuradhapura city ruins,concluding in Mihintale. If you are in Anuradhapura, I definitely recommend this place

Sampath village was an absolute delight! The room and facilities were pristinely clean and comfortable, outfitted with thoughtful touches like a tea kettle and luggage rack. They let me do a much-needed load of laundry, including a dryer so no need to wait a week for clothes to dry in the humidity. The free bikes were fantastic for exploring the beautiful city. The manager Shan was a godsend - he helped so much to arrange taxis, travel, and even a safari for me and a group of other guests - and he even woke up before sunrise to prepare breakfast for us when we went! He went above and beyond in every way and made my stay both easy and unforgettable.

This lady is a BOSS! Best host ever, she fully understood what we needed and arranged the best driver for us to have an amazing tour trough the old city! We were the second lucky guests in her completely new room. Spacious, clean and very comfortable. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night, otherwise we would have stayed longer and booked a cooking class.l, because her food was the best we had in Sri Lanka!
