Very welcoming and helpful family. They cooked us dinner, gave us lots of delicious cake, snacks and tea. They drove us to Horton plains by tuktuk and picked us up for a good price, helped us organizing, brought us to the train station for free. Room was clean and very nice.

It was an extremely nice stay! The people were really nice and even organized a pickup from the trainstation (without us asking for it:). In the morning we wanted to leave at 5:30 to the Horton Plains and they even proposed to give us lunch packages at that time! (We had to decline since we had already bought some snacks but I would have loved to do that!) Dinner was also proposed to prepare at 9 or 10 pm! Which we sadly also had already eaten. But all these offers were really nice and the room itself was also very nice and clean:)

We stayed with Meena Amma for three short days, and wished we had longer. Meena’s hospitality is note perfect, and her traditional Sri Lankan meals the best we have enjoyed in our time on the island. The setting of the two line rooms is stunning, from the beautiful sunrises to the peaceful evenings in the valley. Thank you Meena for your warmth, effort, care and culinary brilliance - we won’t forget it!

This was an exceptional accommodation on Sri Lanka. Rooms were absolutely clean, host Faiz was absolutely professional and very kind. He was always making sure we had everything. He and his wife provided amazing food. We had breakfast and diner twice. It was delicious, varied and a there was a plenty of it. Faiz provided us all information we needed for the walks around and even helped us to catch a bus to Colombo. From the very first minute to the end, he really provided everything we needed and much more.

Awesome Family. Amazing sunrise view. Very good food. Kozy comfortable room. The best place to start hikes like Pekoe Trail 11/12 or Worlds End on Hortons plain. I can totally recomment this place!

People were so kind, friendly, helpful. They cooked the best food for us and made sure we were never hungry. Kids had fun playing cricket and chatting with the hosts kids. They called the train station for us to check for delays which helped. Village was peaceful. Garden was nice.

Beautiful property run by a beautiful family, stayed here to do HNP and really happy we did. Smiles all round, lots of laughter, huge delicious dinner and coffee with a packed breakfast for the morning. Room was big and comfortable and the garden overlooks the mountains, couldn’t ask for more.

Such an amazing accommodation, super helpful family, always making sure you have everything! Great dinner and a to go breakfast for our early morning hike in the National Park! We would have loved to stay longer!!! If you are looking for a beautiful, chill and truly authentic experience you should stay here! You can do nice hikes and the NP is only a short tuktuk ride away. Highly recommend this place and we are sad we only stayed one night.

Lovely property, verily simple for the price but nice location if you want to go to Horton Plains. But close to nothing else around. So best for families in order to make the journey a bit cheaper. The host can cook food for you which is super delicious!

Amazing homestay, very nice and helpful family. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location is very close to the Horton Plains, family helped us arrange a tuktuk at 6:30 am to get there. They also cooked us two delicious dinners and even helped to take care of my boyfriend’s sprained ankle.

This was my second visit in Ohiya. This place is very special. The combination of the breathtaking nature and amazing people is fabulous! Well this place is not a luxury hotel. It is totally about the nature and the family who run the guesthouse :)

What a lovely family! Wonderful food, good beds, great sunrise just from the garden. Very helpful with planning your trips and arranging transport. Especially the 15 year old daughter is great fun to talk (and sing!) with. Could watch the mom making dinner and she explained about the food.

Even thought the options were limited, the host prepared our BF cleanly. Property is located with a small distance from the 🚉 but it wasn’t an issue for us since the owner provided up and down tuk tuk service. The owner was kind enough to prepare the meal of our one year old kid as we expected. They were very friendly throughout our stay. Expecting to visit the place again with family 🙂
