We had a lovely stay at Mangawhai Lodge. It's located at the top of a hill and has outstanding views. Jeanette our host was absolutely lovely and made it feel like we were staying with family. Breakfast was fantastic and freshly cooked each day with the choice of continental with yummy fresh fruit salad as an added bonus or a eggs, bacon and such. The lodge is not right in town center, but it's a short 15 walk to get to the cafes and restaurants. It's also within 10 to 1 hour drive to many awesome experiences and places. So you can see beautiful beaches and go surfing near by, do walking routes and explore cliffs, forrest and waterfalls or even a little city life in Whangarei.

    We had an amazing stay. The house was welcoming, clean and warm. The spa pool and pizza oven/ outdoor fire were added bonuses. It was a great house for two families as bedroom areas were quite separate. Location was great and really appreciated the tips from Sarah about where everything in mangawhai was situated.

    It was nicely decorated, clean and better finish than we expected. I was worried at the start to stay in a cabin with our 1 year old baby, but it was way better than I expected. We stayed at Apartment 1, which is a first floor one bedroom apartment has an enclosed balcony. It was great because we know she can crawl around safely. They have provided us with a cot and a good quality high chair, love it, and made our travel with the little one so much easier. The staff are super friendly too, definitely will stay there again.
