Maybe my favourite hostel after 4 months in India - I booked for 2 nights and ended up staying over a week. You can get out of bed and jump straight into the backwaters. The sunrise boat tour through the mangroves is a must (& really good value). Loved the Keralan breakfast in the morning, and appreciated being able to use the kitchen to cook my own food after travelling for ages! Attracts a great backpacker crowd and is super social in a chill way. Rooms are simple but clean and the outdoor common areas are perfect - hammocks galore. Thanks for a great stay 🌊🌴🌞

A recently renovated homestay set in Thekkady, Mountain View Homestay features a garden. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The homestay offers garden views, a picnic area and a 24-hour front desk. After the initial hustle and chaos of India, staying at Mountainview Homestay is a welcome place to unwind. Asfal and his friends are friendly and easy to talk to, and they give great tips on what to see and do in the area. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. Waking up to a view of the green trees, with a cup of good coffee is pure bliss. It’s incredibly peaceful, with the occasional playful troop of monkeys on the roof to break the silence, peeking curiously at you as they play. In short, the perfect spot to recharge before diving back into colorful, bustling India. P.S. Asfal also helped us with the next leg of our trip. He arranged a taxi driver to take us to the Alleppey, and along the way shared lots about the history of Kerala and India, tea plantations, and Hinduism. We made several stops and got to try local sweets – highly recommended!

This room includes all meals. This is the best vacation my parents and I among the several we took in the last 5 years. The resort has a rustic charm to it, the grounds and room are well maintained. You get to see deers, wild boars and langur monkeys within the property. Tracy and Gibran helped us with all our trip planning and any special requests we had for our elderly parents during our stay. All the support staff were amazing and helpful in every way. Thank you Jungle Hut for the wonderful memories, will definitely visit again.

The food was amazing! As well as the whole afternoon of cruising on the first day, we had a short morning cruise before our checkout which was great! Although all food is included, we had the option to stop and buy huge fresh tiger prawns which were caught in the lake, and the chef cooked those for us alongside our other curries. The best thing we’ve done in India. 10/10!

Located almost in the middle of a forest of its own, Kaav offers beautifully done rooms, delicious and generous amount of food, and importantly, safaris and heaps of activities for travelers to explore local wildlife! The hospitality and friendliness of the staff is also commendable, and I appreciated Divya the manager being in touch with me a few days before my trip to help me build a great itinerary & ensuring it to execution during my stay! Kudos and thanks to everyone else for their amazing services - Vanya, Sujith, Chef Sunil and his team, and the hardworking kitchen and housekeeping staff! I see myself returning here for sure!
