The first impression of Landhotel Alte Aue is obviously the charming exterior which matches the quaintness of the village. Most importantly, though, the reception was welcoming and kind. Even though the man was unable to speak English, he made every effort to ensure understanding, and there ended up being no issue with the language barrier. Which brings me to say, throughout my entire stay the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, and the service was efficient and to the highest standard. In terms of cleanliness -- absolutely spotless. I tend to be a bit on the germaphobic side, and I've never felt more comfortable in a hotel room (it is important to note, this especially includes the washroom, which was sparkling). On that note, the water was hot and the shower had good pressure. I also had some laundry to do, and the heated towel rack dried my clothes in no time. My sleep was restful as the room was warm, equipped with extra blankets, quiet, and dark. In addition, it felt safe: guests not only can lock their own room, but also may lock the building itself with the same key. Finally, the breakfast (included in your stay!) the following morning was exceptional. Delicious jams and spreads with fresh bread, fruit and yoghurt, charcuterie, and the best coffee I've had so far in Germany. In short, I am so thankful to the staff at the Landhotel Alte Aue for such a pleasurable stay. They well deserve each of the ten stars I've given, and I'd highly recommend their location for a beautiful stay in the Harz mountains.

Great location right in the middle of a small Harz village. Friendly staff who also managed the adjacent restaurant. We had one bedroom (good double bed) with a big TV, and a living room with a couch as the third bed. Nice view from the sunny balcony onto the restaurant terrace. Parking for 3 motorbikes next to the Hotel was available. Breakfast was good.

The Pension was located high up in the valley with gorgeous views from my room. The host put himself out to bring me up from the valley floor - my mobility I'd impaired and I was warn out! The house was delightful and very welcoming, despite tge lateness of my arrival. And the room was so quiet - I was quickly deep asleep. The owner even went out of his way to return me to the railhead in the morning. Breakfast, rolls, meat, and coffee was lovely and contributed to my overall sense of calmness. Fantastic!

Everything was absolutely perfect. Extremely helpful host, who also spoke English. The accommodation is very spacious, nicely decorated and has everything you could want. The location is quiet, with a large garden and plenty of parking space. This is the best accommodation of its type I have stayed in from this site.

The welcome by the owners is warm and friendly. Doris and Barbara run Arleta with a lot of heart and it shows in how comfortable and cosy the place is. The breakfast was outstanding with homemade vegetarian spreads, marmalades, Bircher Muesli and freshly baked breads. Finally, the location is excellent for walking as the trail start at the house.
