It feels incredibly authentic. For anyone staying here, I'd just say trust the process, the host is the sweetest little old man who hosts really fun karaoke evenings. It wasn't what we expected going into it but this place gave us some great laughs and memories for life.

This is that rare gem you’re looking for. Probably a once in a lifetime experience. The room feels authentic, is comfy and cozy. Extremely friendly and helpful staff! They speak very good English and even organized an Onsen visit for me and another guest on the same day. The guest house is super cozy and it’s very nice to relax in the common area with the tatami floors. The guest house is located very close to Hakone open air museum, so it’s easy to reach by bus.

Incredible experience. Maybe the best one yet! We spent the night playing card games with the two owners as well as another guest. Although the owners don't speak English, communication was always easy as they have a device to immediately translate from Japanese to English or any other language and vice versa. They often helped us plan our itinerary for the next day. The beds and comforters were so comfortable and we could see Mount Fuji from our window. There were bathrooms on both floors but the shower rooms are on the first floor so plan your baths carefully. Would love to come again.
