The hosts are very lovely. They have bbq facility on site (1500 yen fee) which I highly recommend! It’s nice to have outdoor bbq. However, keep in mind that you will need to bring your own ingredients. To access this accomodation you will require a car as it is a bit far from the downtown.

The owner is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We're a group of 8 adults. The owner picked us up from Nakatsugawa station with 3 cars. One to send our luggage back to the guest house. The other 2 cars brought us to the supermarket to buy ingredients for us to cook our dinner at night. Upon our request, they dropped us at Magome town, and brought our ingredients back to the homestay and arranged nicely in the refrigerator. The next day, the owner again helped us to send our luggage to our next accommodation. The homestay has everything we need. The kitchen is fully equipped. The owner prepared a lot of free food and drinks for us. We also love the outdoor wooden bathtub, outdoor dining area and the hammocks. They have cherry tree too. Must be really beautiful in the spring.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor.

The location of the guesthose is perfect, its on the main beautiful street of magome (even though its the main street its super quiet at night). the staff were so nice and helpful, gave us great recommendations for what to do and eat, they also helped us book a car which was much help! ken the owner cooked great dinner and the homemade jam at breakfast was one of the best we've ever had. the room was spacious with windows where you can hear the water stream from the street at night, there was also an aircondition but we didn't use it (the air from outside was cool and nice in october). the toilet and shower were great and super clean, shared but never had to wait to use it. the design and atmosphire are so peaceful and beautiful, would go back to magome only to stay there again!

What a lovely and memorable stay! Waking up to an incredible mountain view was a beautiful way to start the day, especially while enjoying a cup of coffee and cereal (which were provided free of charge). The room was not only super clean, but also very spacious. I was pleasantly surprised by how great the bunk beds were. The comforter and pillow were of excellent quality, and the bunk bed had a reading light – a small touch that made a big difference. The guesthouse had a variety of games and books available in the common area. The communal kitchen was also well-stocked, with a fridge full of ice-cold beverages that could be settled upon checkout. The guesthouse manager was extremely helpful and assisted us with ordering food at "Ontaya" restaurant. Using a QR code web link, we were able to place our food and drink order ahead of time and thus was already being prepared as we arrived, which saved us from any potential language barriers during the ordering process. I would highly recommend this guesthouse. I remember how pleased I was when a room became available for our desired travel dates walking the Nakasendo trail. I feel very privileged to have have stayed at Guesthouse Nedoko.
