The hosts were absolutely amazing and spent plenty of time accommodating us. They made sure we were comfortable, offered some lovely chats fluently in English. There are even some home comforts for the English out there. They also offered tons of advice on what to do in the area. The room was spacious and clean, with customisable set up using the futons.

The property is old but incredibly well maintained, and staying there felt like stepping back more than 300 years into the past. At the same time, it has been renovated with modern facilities, which made our stay very comfortable. The owner was very kind, and we enjoyed talking with her for hours. She was extremely accommodating and even helped us get a reservation at a popular local restaurant on short notice. We are very grateful for her hospitality.

It’s a really authentic place, with much attention spend on lovely details such as the fireplace which makes the total super cosy. The couple running this minshuku are so so lovely and they made us feel very much at home. They gave us local advice, explained more about life in Japan and became the Japanese grandparents of our baby. Also, we had the most delicious diner and breakfast, all home made. We visited Narai and Magome, which are both lovely villages with nice hiking opportunities, but also Matsumoto, Kamikoche and other nice places are within driving distance. If your looking for a real authentic Japanese experience and something special, look no further!

Woderful stay! The Hill Top was our base for three nights. This allowed us to do the Tsumago/Magome hike (one hour drive) as well as hiking Mt. Kisokoma-gatake (one hour drive). Getting there by car was made easier by the indications on the roadside for the last few kilometers. The hosts were exquisitely kind. Dinner was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the local wines. Breakfast was also excellent. Surroundings of the hotel are beautiful. One of our most pleasant stay in Japan.

The seven eleven and eel restaurant is between 15 minutes distance on foot. And my trip goal is join the local firefly festival. Also within 15 mins route between 15 mins . The location is very silence , i am very appreciate.

The hospitality of the host couple is unmatched. I was welcomed warmly and the room is spacious, clean and comfortable. The hosts provide snacks, free coffee and drinks and truly are the kindest people. They had infos on train schedules, made me an early breakfast upon departure and even drove me to the train station at 7.30am. Thank you so much, this was such a lovely encounter.

This was one of our favourite places to stay during our time in japan The room was quiet and dark, perfect for us to get a good sleep- and each room is different so you can request what you need if available The staff were kind and helpful All the facilities we needed were available including parking We strongly recommend eating at farmers house azukabo nearby!
