It was a wonderful experience, coming to Mr. Hiro's house. The accommodation was clean, beautiful, traditional, the conversation with the owner was very pleasant. I slept wonderfully there. I will always return to this place in my thoughts. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. And as a bonus, there is excellent and tasty drinking water. If you are thinking about where to stay in Japan, this is the right choice. Just don't make the same mistake I did. We were only for one night. We have to come back here for at least 3 nights.

The house owner Ms Arai is very attentive and generous. It is very heartwarming. Right after we arrived, she offered to drive us to Toshogu Temple so we would not miss out the opening hours. When the shops and restaurants of Nikko almost all closed after 6pm, she drove us around town to look for restaurants that were still opened. She offered us free homemade breakfast on both days of our stay. One of the days we had to leave very early in the morning but she still served us breakfast and drove us to the station 6am in the morning. She also offered useful advice on our stay in Nikko. We are very grateful for her help 💖💖💖

The hosts are both amazing!! Very friendly and eager to help us with everything we needed. We had not chosen to have diner there (bad decision because I believe it must have been amazing) and they suggested to make a reservation for us at an excellent restaurant nearby. The breakfast was served in a very cosy and homey feeling living room and it was a classical western style with eggs, bagels etc which was exceptional! I have nothing but wonderful words to say about this experience. Totally recommended! I would like to revisit and spend more time there. Thank you for everything

Location was very convenient and accessible, as I could easily walk from the station and bus stop under 5 minutes even with heavy luggage. Beds in the dorm were comfy and shower facilities were perfect. Probably my favourite part though was the people. Hosts Kimiko San and Suzuki San were very hospitable. They offered suggestions on the itinerary, as well as nearby onsens to try. My favourite part of the trip though was joining an English practice meetup at Picnikko, where I got to meet other Nikko locals. Everyone was very warm and welcoming and I had a lovely time:)

About a 20-minute walk from the Nikko shrines, Annex Turtle Hotori-An is situated next to the Daiya river and green forests. It features hot spring baths with river views.

This is a really lovely place. It has everything you need. It is very clean and quiet. The bathroom and kitchen are in generous size. The futon beds are very comfortable. We also love to have our dinner outside in the big patio. Safa is an excellent host. He is always responsive and accommodating. Nikko is a beautiful place with rich history and beautiful nature. We wish we could spend more time there.

Excellent place for budget-minded diy-traveller. We rented a car for a week to drive around the surrounding areas and towns, and returned to our "home-base" after each day. There was a free parking area provided by the facility. The room was really large and spacious, with a bit of a retro feel to it. This is what it must feel like to go to stay at your japanese countryside granpa's place, I think. Tatami floors and futon beds.
