The Mount Bay Guesthouse became our second home! We stayed there twice during our stay in Sri Lanka - 2 minutes away from the beach. At our arrival the owners Steph and Sam welcomed us with open hearts and hospitality at its best! The rooms are very clean, the service is excellent and in the guesthouse has also a nice restaurant with the best and friendliest chef. Sam is also doing his own chili sauce, so spice lovers can just ask for a little extra spice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The new menu is excellent, good portioned and the food tastes like heaven. I can really recommend the whole fish - super fresh and spicy! The whole staff was super nice and helped us with anything from transfers or recommendations for things to do! We became instant friends and discovered so many things in common. They even took us to the pool at the Mount Lavinia Hotel and introduced us to their friends. We had an incredibly good time and laughed a lot. That‘s why they invited us for their NYE party at the rooftop of the guesthouse (free entry), which has an excellent view on the beach. Amazing people, tasty food, good music and a nice view on the fireworks - what a blast! Thank you, dear Sam and Steph! You and your guesthouse have touched our hearts! Keep this spirit up and hope to see you soon! This was definitely not our last visit!

I arrived in Srilanka by arriving in Cottage Garden, such a nice place for stay and take Srilankan temperature. Quite, peaceful, with tortule friends who is walking in the garden. Breakfast was very good and generous.

Really lovely small hotel in mount lavinia. Everything is really clean and its quit. The Busstop for going to colombo city is just 3 minutes walking distance. Also the Beach and many restaurants are close by. Absolutly recomendet, you get much for a small price!

Owners are extremely friendly and helpful, apartment is very big and comfortable! Kitchen is well equipped with fridge, microwave, kettle and all needed cutlery, pots and pans! Very clean and bed is comfortable with clean sheets and pillows.

Unlike anything I’ve seen before. Rooms and common areas are artfully decorated with trinkets from around the world. My room was overlooking the lake and it felt like I was living in the jungle, surrounded by plants. Bed was super comfy and the rain shower was great. The pool and view over the lake were incredible. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was delicious, we had plans to head out to Colombo but decided to stay and enjoy the property and had all our meals there. A personalised experience with great hosts, thanks for everything!

Loved our stay in this beautiful house. TJ and his staff were fantastic and made stay here very comfortable. TJ was a mine of very interesting information on Colombo and the history of this house. We were fortunate enough to stay when the house was used for wedding photography which gave us an unique insight to Sri Lankan weddings. We were served Sri Lankan breakfasts by Dilshan who explained all the dishes to us and don’t forget to take a dip in the pool.

Our stay was perfect! It was our first day in Sri Lanka and we arrived already early in the morning, but they went the extra mile in providing a room immediately - after a welcome drink - so we could recover from an overnight flight. Very thoughtful and friendly staff! We fell at home immediately in this little oasis of calm! As a plus, the dinner was delicious!
