This is one of best guest houses I stayed in. Very beautiful, well run and friendly staff, The rooms are beautiful and well equipt. The breakfast we enjoyed well prepared This place is a jewel in Calitzdorp and a must to stay for a day or much longer.

Just an absolutely unique and beautiful experience in the middle of the countryside. Joint dinner an absolute blast. We had car trouble and the staff took such good care of us and went out of their way to ensure we were safe. Will never forget it, highest recommendations!

It is easy to give a good review when things go perfectly, but it is when things don't go smoothly and the property owner makes an exceptional effort to put things right, that reviews really matter. I turned up to my booking to find the property unattended. Short of time, I booked somewhere else. Booking.com doesn't allow immediate cancellation, even though it is obvious that no one needs two different stays on the same night! The owner was very communicative and understanding and worked hard to help process the refund. To me, this is the mark of an exceptional and responsible property owner. We received a very warm welcome. The old schoolhouse is secluded in the mountains. Bronwyn and Colin have lovingly renovated and furnished it. We slept with the window open and enjoyed the peace and seclusion. There are several marked hiking trails, the river for swimming and boats for paddling. Our children loved the chickens, which they were allowed to feed. They are very tame and let themselves be stroked. Thank you all! We had a great time!

The accommodation is spacious in a heritage building with a very nice communal space, and super quiet, with everything you need. Our host Angela was super friendly and helpful, and recommended really nice places to eat nearby. The Calitz advertises as "cheap accommodation jn Calitzdorp" so I didn't have too high expectations, but frankly it was way way better than I would've thought, and would totally recommend it. Nearby restaurant and small bar at walking distance was really good too
