He gave us anything we need, He offered and took us the JR station nearby by his car.

Great guesthouse in a peaceful area, food store and restaurants short walk away. Awesome bicycles for use while staying.

After reading the rave reviews, I booked this stay months in advance to make sure we would not miss the opportunity to meet Ken and Yuki and to stay at their guesthouse boasting modern facilities and balancing comfort and sleek design with traditional Japanese architecture and minimalistic and elegant interior design. At the end of a long day hiking, we were greeted with a big smile as if we'd come home to our family, a feeling that is both priceless and heatwarming. Ken's kind and welcoming nature is only rivalled by Yuki's and her sense of humor. Dinner was as delicious as our breakfast (all guests shamelessly went for seconds and some even thirds taking the lead for a brave lady I shall not name), enjoyed to the sound of Jazz standards in a communal spirit shared with the other guests, all of whom polite and considerate, as if handpicked by the hosts or perhaps instinctively mirroring their behavior. Guests do not have to wait to take a shower because there are three showers, one of which with an additional bathtub, for four rooms. Everything is impeccably clean and organized, making you feel restful instantly. So, do not hesitate to book this guesthouse as you make your way along the Old Nakasendo Road or just take a taxi to Magome and walk a few hundred meters to take photos for your Insta. Whether you fit the former or latter category, you will be treated as a family member by the kindest people we've met during our 3-week stay in Japan. I've already recommended this guesthouse to everyone I know who is planning to visiting Japan.

There is private parking and the property provides an electric vehicle charging station. This was a great place to stay in Takayama. The location was perfect for getting to the old part of the town a quick 10 mins walk away. The hosts were both amazing so friendly and accommodating, nothing was a problem. we had the place to ourselves the first night so it was quiet. Would highly recommend this as a great place to stay in Takayama.

There is a shared kitchen available to prepare any meal you might want. There is also laundry room. The hosts are the most helpful, nice and friendly. Onsen is just across the road.

Among the various facilities are a garden, a bar, as well as a shared lounge. The guest house features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Fantastic hosts, so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. They literally drove us to the slopes every day and picked us up. They even drove us to Nagano to catch the train back to Tokyo at the end of our stay. The accommodation has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and is super modern. To get the best from this property, get stuck in and meet the other guests, it's such a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Noise levels drop by 10pm to ensure a peaceful night sleep and the breakfast/ food it's awesome. Thanks for the fabulous welcome to all the staff at Dark Horse.
