What we liked most about the place was the location and the owners. Perera, the owner and his wife are the sweetest people, they cook really amazing food. They served us a lot (i think there were about 7 types) of homemade curries (my favourite was the jackfruit curry). The rooms were very big and the beds really comfy. The bathroom is basic but has the basics covered, we had hot water all the time although, to be fair, we didn t really need it. The place was very very clean. I would absolutely recommend it

New Haven Polonnaruwa has been, by far, the best guesthouse I've been in my whole trip. The place is brand new, extremely comfortable and clean. It is also decorated with good taste. The exterior area, still under construction, is spaceous, and has a lot of possibilities. It has a traditional kitchen built in clay, and an area to have breakfast/lunch/dinner very cozy and nice. Congratulations to the chef! Food is so good! The owner, Iran, puts a lot of love on the project. Also he has shown me his amazing paddy field, we've collected coconuts together and do not worry if the place doesn't have a swimming pool (yet), because he took me to a canal for a nice swim very near from the place.

At Villa Ravichini, the family-friendly restaurant is open for dinner, lunch and high tea and serves Asian cuisine. I can't recommend Villa Ravichini Homestay enough! The place is fantastic. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom nice with good water pressure, and the breakfast was delicious. But what truly sets this homestay apart is Ravi. He's the heart and soul of the place — so patient, kind, and helpful. Despite the heavy rain on my arrival, he suggested a safari to the Eco Park nearby, where we saw many elephants and plenty of birds. Shiran, our driver, was great too — knowledgeable and respectful of animals and of nature! Ravi also made amazing tea, rented me a bike, and even took me to the Shivaratri Festival at the ancient temples. If you're in Polonnaruwa, stay at Villa Ravichini.

The family is incredibly welcoming, from the parents to the son, that is helping from time to time. The rooms are nice and clean, the bed comfortable and you can rent a bike there to go visit the city (although a bit old they work well). The breakfast was very good. Our only regret was spending only one night here and continue our chat with the son and father. Thank you for the hospitality and the ride to the bus station!
