My wife and I were dealing with a heavy family loss and our hostess and the overall experience at this Bettei made the loss much easier to cope with. I could not have asked for a better experience. In addition, the unexpected connection to Himeji Castle greatly increased my appreciation for my visit to the ancient fortress.

Its the coziest place I have stayed during my trip through Japan so far.. I was given a warm welcome by the hostess of the place and was introduced to my bed and the accommodations like the bathroom and such … I ate dinner at the lounge, which is shown as the first impression of this guesthouse and man did it not disappoint! I ate dinner in the company of other guests, locals and the hostess, which was the best decision I’ve made during my stay .. I got to get to know other guests more and had the opportunity to use the little Japanese that I knew .. we also had the chance to engage in a fun card game. although the building is rather old it isn’t cold at all, there is air ventilation in the lounge and in the dorm rooms :) .. the place is clean and tidy and really just feels like a warm hug ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

Authentic Japanese home fully restored by a lovely couple of hosts. John also does fantastic tours and has extensive knowledge to pass on. We had a lovely time and will definitely go back.
