The hosts were absolutely amazing and spent plenty of time accommodating us. They made sure we were comfortable, offered some lovely chats fluently in English. There are even some home comforts for the English out there. They also offered tons of advice on what to do in the area. The room was spacious and clean, with customisable set up using the futons.

I liked the rooms with tatami mats and blankets plus windows with screening, tv with Netflix and YouTube etc. the owner was totally helpful and easy going and even went out his way to return my socks that I left behind and even tried to give me his bicycle. Definitely a great place. Cool room quiet and fresh breezy air.

Mutsumi our host was so friendly and accommodating, spending time with us making origami dinosaurs and then sharing her kimono wearing with my sister and daughter. Her home is very close to the Matsumoto art gallery with its amazing Yayoi Kusama collection, and within walking distance to both Matsumoto Castle and Matsumoto train station. The floor based bedding and blankets in the large tatami room were super comfortable, and shared kitchen, bathroom and toilet were clean and well appointed.

Decoration and cleanliness was awesome. Staff super nice and charming. They give very useful tips for the city and restaurants.

Lodge Atelier is conveniently located across the road from the Keith Haring Museum. Their rate is a great deal. We were especially impressed by the property's cleanliness and their kind and responsive staff. We enjoyed hanging out in the cozy lounge and selecting records from their impressive collection of jazz records. There are two private onsen bathing areas accessible to guests 5am to midnight. This place is a gem, a great place to relax and recharge.
