We had an amazing stay in this guesthouse. Barbara & Lee are the best hosts ever. Very kind, fun and welcoming. The other guests that we shared the house with were also great. And the house is beautiful! If you consider booking, keep in mind that you really do share the space with the other guests. Sound travels very easily in this house and people might be up chatting til 11pm. However if you are looking for a social experience and don't mind some noise at times, it's well worth it! The people we stayed with were respectful and kind and I hope all future guests will be as well. I recommend renting a car for this stay (A car is also great for Yakushima over all)

Great location, perfectly functional AC and bathroom and shower were always clean. Washing machine was clean and worked well I appreciated it much. There was no dryer but since it’s summer clothes got dried out fast anyway.

This place is absolutely amazing. Japanese people are generally very hospitable, but the host took it to a next level. She gave me clear instructions how to do my hiking trip and also booked my return ferry for me. She even made some homemade onigiri for me and every other guest doing a hike. There's also breakfast (coffee/tea and toast) in the hostel and the host was there awake at 3 AM to make sure everybody gets going without problems. The forest around the hostel and the facilities themselves are very unique.

The location is conveniently situated near a public bus stop, only a short one-to-two minute walk away, and a supermarket is within a ten-minute walk. Parking is available for guests arriving by car. The room was impeccably clean and comfortable. A shared kitchen and refrigerator are available for guest use. The food provided by the host was exceptionally good value. Most importantly, the host was incredibly kind and provided outstanding hospitality.

Charming minshuku with super helpful staff and very many amenities eg free washing machine and dryer, good onsen, v good meals . My room was spotlessly clean and had a wash basin . The minshuku is about 40 min walk from the port though it’s also on a bus route . There is an Indian restaurant and a large supermarket within easy walking distance .

Amazing scenery and great facilities. I stayed in the female dorm, everything was clean and well maintained. I also loved the communal kitchen with free tea and coffee and an outside terrace. It is close to the bus stop and you can get to all the main attractions on Yakushima, including an early bus connection to the Jomon Sugi trail, but you feel surrounded by nature. Also the owner Hiro-san is very friendly, speaks good English and a bit of French and gave me good information on what to visit.

A 4-minute drive from the Port of Miyanoura, Minshuku Iwakawa offers affordable Japanese-style accommodation, rooftop barbecue facilities and free-use washing machines. Free Wi-Fi is available.

We stayed in the new building. It was perfect. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. And location is excellent. An amazing stay in an incredible island.

Our hosts Mr. Taguchi and Ms. Taguchi were very kind and gave us many information before our stay and also during our stay. They even drove us to the shop to buy a bus ticket. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The location is very quiet and beautiful. The bath is very very nice, a combination of modern shower and traditional bathrooms. The breakfast at Taguchi San residence was incredibly delicious. We will definitely come back here one day.
