We were really happy we chose this place for our 3-night stay at Tissa. I will not write much about the place, the room and the facilities provided and the quality of services provided by the host; they are all better described by other guests and they are all true. I will - above all - point out the amazing care dedicated by the host and his wife in order to serve us the best quality of ingredients and prepared the finest dishes of Sri Lankan cuisine! That was the only place of all Sri Lanka over a 3+ week period where we had the chance (and the luck) to taste authentic local food - and it was amazing! Don't miss this opportunity and book your dinner (half-board) with them... you won't regret it!

I had an amazing stay with Priya! If you are searching for a host that goes far and beyond to make your stay perfect and feeling comfortable, you really need to stay here! He picked me up at the bus station, went with me in the evening on a lagoon safari, his wife made the perfect dinner (you can choose from a diverse menu), arranged a perfect early morning safari (and even woke up to make coffee/tea and some snacks!) And afterwards brought me to the bus to Tangalle and even put me on the bus! Thank you so much for this experience Priya and family! ☺️

The location was very good, the house was beautiful, and the family was very kind and helpful. The room was excellent, the air conditioning and the fan both worked perfectly, it was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and very comfortable. The dinner prepared by the host’s mother was delicious and offered at a very good price, and the breakfast was also excellent. If I had to stay in Yala again, I would definitely choose this place.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I had only booked to stay 3 nights - but ended up staying 3 weeks as I completely fell in love with the place and the family. I am a female who has been solo travelling the world for 6 months and I can honestly say this is my favourite place I have stayed. The villa is situated on a quiet and peaceful lake - I spent many evenings sitting watching the birds as the sun set. The villa has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are also clean with a very comfortable bed. Dasun was truly the most wonderful host - he always made sure I was comfortable, happy and always laughing (and also never hungry - the food was amazing!!!) He is a good and honest man and his family are also the most kind and hospitable people. I have never felt so welcomed - his family are like a second family to me now. I also went on 2 safari trips to Yala with Dasun Safari as I enjoyed the first so much. Dasun is a huge wildlife enthusiast and his knowledge on the safari was impeccable. Believe me when I say he knows something about everything! Crocodiles are my favourite animal - and on the 2nd safari we saw 18!!! We also saw a leopard and 15 elephants in one day. Dasun also took me to various places in the village to give me a true, authentic Sri Lankan experience - off the usual touristy track. I saw how Buffalo curd was made, went on a catamaran trip on the lake and also watched jewellery be hand made (thanks Sumo!). I loved every minute of my stay at Lapwing Lake Villa. So much so that I will definitely be returning. Thank you Dasun Ayya!!!!!

The view and the host were just amazing. The cabana is the only "room" they rent and you can feel they really care about your well being, giving u suggestions on the activities without being intrusive and offering help without expecting anything back. It has been, by far, the best accomodation I got in Sri Lanka.

Host Lal is extremely attentive to his guests needs. Properties are right beside a lake with lots of birds to view and watch the Water Buffalo being taken for swims. Lal himself is interested in birds and wildlife so is more than happy to book you tours and accompany you if you wish. Tell him what you want to eat and he will buy fresh and cook for you. Rooms are clean and bedding too. I believe his years at sea as a Steward prepared him well for looking after his guests.

Super lovely family and a beautiful place to stay. I got help with getting picked up at the bus station and getting dropped off. I also got upgraded to a room with more space and a river view for the same price because it wasn’t booked. I booked a safari for a fair price and loved it! Saw three leopards, elephants, water buffalo, crocodiles and more. All I had to do was say yes to the safari and get up early - everything was arranged very quickly. We also went on a tuk tuk ride to the lake on the day I arrived at sunset to watch the bats. Thanks so much for the lovely stay!!! :)
