perfect location! ride to the ancient city is absolutely gorgeous and you can use the bicycle they have. hosts were super friendly, helpful and showed me around. really would recommend this place. breakfast was tasty and a lot. they even made me a lunch package.

Staying at Aruna Home Stay in Polonnaruwa was by far the best experience I had with local people during my trip in Sri Lanka. Mom and daughter were incredibly kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful, making me feel like part of their family from the very first moment. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What really made the difference was the warm hospitality: sharing meals, stories, and local advice gave me the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan culture in a way that no hotel could offer. The location is also great, close to the ancient city and easy to reach by bike or tuk-tuk. Breakfast and dinner prepared at the homestay were delicious, with fresh and traditional dishes full of flavor. We had a brilliant stay! The space was new, and felt clean and modern, as well as cool. Our hosts were lovely, and gave us some great recommendations, as well as organising a fantastic safari tour for us to the nearby Kadulla National Park (where we saw hundreds of animals, including Elephants). The location is easy, just a 5 minute walk to the Ancient City. There’s also some great places to eat nearby - special mention to Mr.Punsiri's Kitchen which was delicious. The room was light and airy, and we had our own balcony to sit on which was great in the evenings. Overall we had a great time and would love to come back.

Great location very close to ancient city ticket office. Great host family - attentive and gave local advice. Appreciated the air con which worked super well. Awesome breakfast - of our best so far.
