Homestays in Thānkot

This was infact my 2nd stay at this Homestay and it was just as perfect as it was the 1st time around. As a regular visitor to Nepal, this is now my 'go-to' homestay for future visits. The homestay is hosted by Aaishish, his wife, Suzu, and their mum, Aama and they have become like my family in a very short time. I had a great room with a balcony so this was lovely. Shared bathroom but the house infact has 3 bathrooms, one for each of the 3 floors of the house. Hot water each day which was a blessing and very strong wifi so working from here is very easy. I had multiple plug points in my room so could get everything charged up very easily. They also provide filtered water freely for drinking. The family are just so lovely. They make you feel very at ease and definitely accept you as a family member. We had a few movie nights and called in Pizza a few times. They also have a brilliant large garden that you can sit in.. The garden is the pride of Aashiish and he sometimes puts on movies in the garden also in the evening which is a real treat. The garden has multiple patios and a fab banana tree! Food is plentiful ! The homestay just keep trying to feed you all the time and both Aama & Suzu are wonderful cooks. Black tea or milk tea is available all day and you can ask for any special requests. I am not a huge lover of spicy foods so the family accommodated all my 'quirks' perfectly and always had options for me. The area is about 5km outside of Thamel and the city so its costs about 500 rupees to taxi back and forth. About 200m from the house is a modern coffee shop with also free wifi. On the same road as the homestay are 2 great restaurants which offer all kinds of food, coffees and drinks. They give you a little western reminder if you need this. Kirtipur is a real local town outside of the commerciality of Thamel and you can still easily access everywhere.

The guesthouse owners were fantastic, very humble and always with a big smile! The guesthouse has a kitchenette and the beds were very comfy. You'll get a nice view over Kitripur!

Clean, friendly and lovely family... The lady cooks very tasty local cuisine for you They are always ready to serve...

It's an amazing homestay, the owner showed me the must visit temples due to my short stay.We also had family dinner with other guests, sharing what was the day of us. The breakfast was delicious and healthy . The room was organized and clean, though it's an old traditional house but you still had a spiritual vibe, can't wait for coming back soon.

We loved it here. Family was so nice and willing. Room cosy and clean. Neighborhood is quieter and more real than the city center.

Good facility with plenty of solar powered hot water, clean, well situated at the center if Kathmandu, away from the more touristy Thamel, very safe. A genuine Nepalese experience in a great neighbourhood. I stayed February/March 2025 and only left because it was fully booked beyond the dates I initially booked. Im hopeful its available next trip! Bobby owns and operates the place and made my stay awesome, picked me up from the airport and took me to many places it would have been difficult to arrange to go to; showed me all the essential shops in the area (theres a great convenience store downstairs) and gave me many tips on how to navigate the city's peculiarities. Comfortable stay and great staff. I stayed for one week and would come back again. Good location a little away from Thamel, which is easily accessible by foot.

Clean, comfortable, homely, great facilities.

Great stay. We loved the room, the space, the really comfort bed. But most of all, what a beautiful family this is. We really loved them. They can help you with everything, from store you luggage during a trek to provide a trekking. We already booked through a other organization but next time we definitely book through them. We made friends for life! Place is really good. You can or grab a taxi to tamel or walk around. There are also some places to eat nearby but they also cook fantastic themselves.
