We actually saw Thomas Leaf Monkey's in the garden on our arrival : ) Brian & Sarah were fantastic. Very welcoming and helpful, as were the whole team. The jungle trek (we did 2D1N) was incredible. We saw so many animals. The guides, Jerry & Gunar were brilliant and loads of fun too. Plus the food provided during the trek was delicious. Highly recommend using these guys.

There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The accommodation provides airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. I had a really nice stay and trekking (2D1N) with Jhony and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a jungle trek in Bukit Lawang. He arranged and took care of everything (pick-up to drop-off, even brought me to ATM and simcard shop with his scooter, all meals included on trekking). He has a very competitive price - the guesthouse is modest, but has everything you need and what you pay for (it is a jungle experience after all so no extra luxury). What is most important is his genuine love for the jungle and the authenticity of his job as a guide. He has many years of experience and built up his own guesthouse - nothing beats supporting true locals!

Apart from the fantastic view you get a super comfy bed, a big mosqito net (without holes :-), a bathroom and toilet (cold water), a fan and WIFI in the room - which I was not expecting. But above all Alex and his family are exellent hosts and you feel very velcome. Alex arranged transport for me to and from Bukit Lawang. I would really recommend this transport (shared tourist taxi) and of course the main thing: Alex arranged a two day trek for me. It vas amazing with lots of wild life including orangutans.

The Kupu Kupu team felt like family, and their service at the guesthouse as well as during the two day jungle trek we did was more than perfect. Nothing!!! We were finally able to find the accomondation with the help of our driver and two other locals. The photos do not match reality! Although it has already been paid we did not stay here. Do not book here!!
I’d stay at this homestay for Smiley and Cecilia alone - Smiley, what a character who’s bursting with energy and Cecilia, always so sweet and accommodating. I did the sunrise Sibayak tour with Smiley and enjoyed it loads
Host family very nice and friendly Great help arranging reliable transport and trips Good food on site and cheap Free water refills Dry rack provided
The homestay was really comfortable, the room + bedroom were perfect size and the host (Mery) was extremely nice and efficient. We came to Berastagi to climb Gunung Sibayak and she organized everything smoothly: breakfast to go, trip etc. Abdy was our driver and guide, he is tremendous nice and knowledgeable.great stay in Berastagi thanks te Nachelle Homestay!
The location was excellent because it is near a café called Hub Tata, which is one of the best places I've ever found - to eat, drink, and for the views! Tama View homestay is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the shower is hot.
Lovely family homestay, great breakfast, room clean and spacious, hot water in the shower which is appreciated! The owner helped us organise sunrise hike to the volcano and gave us all instructions about Berastagi. You will feel as a part of the family.
The owner is such a great host! The lady is the best cook in Sumatara! She makes very good quality dishes, local taste. We rent motorbikes there and asked for laundry service, nothing was a problem. Location and garden is beaitiful.
We stayed for two nights - big bedroom, two king size beds, one single bed, everything very clean. Self-made breakfast and dinner by Cecilia was amazing, traditional food, fresh fruits and whole grain bread - we loved it. Smiley and Cecilia spoke English very well, we learnt a lot about the culture and living. We especially enjoyed the two tours we did with Smiley - Volcano Sibayak at sunrise and Batak village and market. Smiley's Homestay in Berastagi was definitely one of our Sumatra highlights.
Fantastic home stay right in the heart of Berastagi. Cecilia is a great host and a great cook and Smiley was a great guide with some interesting stories! For an authentic Indonesian stay this is the place to be. Thankyou so much
