While breakfast didn't come with soba, it was one of the best I've eaten in Japan. The space is comfortable, traditional and has everything you may need, including excellent views of the city.

This hostel is for women only and is super well located, a few cafes and kissaten around and only a 10-15mn walk to the main touristic places (Kumamoto castle etc.). It was super clean, 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets, the futons were thick and super comfortable, and the lady running it was so nice. She also speaks English. Towels can be bought there for ¥200-500 depending on the size as well as toothbrushes. Also provides shampoo and body wash. The room was well heated and we had a great sleep. 100% recommend. We didn’t use it but there’s also a kitchen and a coffee corner.

The house itself is a beautiful traditional Japanese home, full of warmth and charm, and everything was spotless and comfortable. I instantly felt at peace here. If I had more time, I would have loved to stay longer. I will definitely come again and hope to stay at least a few weeks next time. This place has a special, calming energy. Thank you so much for such a memorable experience!

Set in Mamihara, omusubi share house JAPANEZE STYLE has a recently renovated accommodation 50 km from Lake Ezu. We were slightly sceptical about this place as it only had two reviews, but we are so glad we booked. This was a great guesthouse with traditional Japanese rooms in a gorgeous village. The host was incredibly helpful (even walking us to a local restaurant to make sure we got a space as everywhere was fully booked). We felt incredibly welcome, had comfy beds, a lovely room, and everything we needed.
