The shared kitchen/living room has a beautiful ocean view and a lot of equipment and free iced tea in the fridge. The private onsen is also very nice, also with an ocean view. It can be reserved for free, you just have to pay the small onsen tax.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Please pay in cash or by card upon check-in. Guests under 12 years old are exempt from the lodging tax. Calm, nice peaceful vibes, everything was perfect. Epic showers.

It was like coming home. My sons agree. We needed 8 minutes of walk from train station. We were being late since we missed a train in Koyasan, but owners waited for us. They are really warm and friendly. We got really great advice for restaurants. Room was nice and comfortable and clean. There is a bath, not just shower and also a washing machine. To the center it is only a short walk. We book a place with breakfast option and I really recommend it! Cucumbers and tomatoes were grown by owners! And food was delicious! They are such a nice team!!!

The monk who runs the property was so helpful recommending local restaurants and giving advice and even gave us a lift to the station. There were free drinks including alcohol. The rooms are part of a temple. The hotel is very close to the main shrine and not far from the station so a great location. The place to stay in Shingu. Good value for money.

And if you wake up early like me and there’s no bus at that time, you still able walk to the Shingu station. The hostel has 4 bicycles to be borrowed with no charge. You can ride it around the city.
